  on ABC Prime Time Live

This Thursday on the national TV program "ABC Prime Time Live" the
Ames/RIACS VPE (Virtual Planetary Exploration) project will be one of
the featured topics. In most TV markets this ABC show airs at 10 PM.
We haven't seen the final video of what will be shown (it's not "live"
-- they taped one part early this summer and a second part Aug. 26th).
However, most of it will probably be an interview with Mike McGreevy
walking around on our computer generated graphics of the surface of
Mars (using video matting techinques a la the superimposing of TV
weather persons onto a weather map). There will also probably be some
shots of Mike and Lew Hitchner working at the graphics workstations in
our virtual reality laboratory at NASA Ames.
