I think the addition of a new newsgroup would enhance
discussions, allowing low-level discussions of a garage VR
nature to occur as well as high-level discussions, in
their appropriate newsgroup.

In this way, those that are not interested in one of the
topics do not have to skim through so many of the articles.
Those that are interested in both, may subscribe to both.

Just my two sense worth.
