               CALL FOR CONTRIBUTIONS

            3rd EUROGRAPHICS Workshop on
        Visualization in Scientific Computing

         Viareggio, Italy, April 27-29, 1992

Aims and scopes: The Eurographics Working Group on Vi-
sualization has organized two successful workshops during
the last two years at Clamart and Delft on major visual-
ization issues. This 3rd workshop focuses on methodologies
and techniques to handle visual information of natural phe-
nomena generated by computer models or acquired by sampling
devices; it wants also to encourage advances and promote
discussions among visualization researchers and users. The
application domain covers a wide spectrum of fields that go
from geo-science, to fluid dynamics, to physics, to molecu-
lar modeling.

Suggested topics are:

- multidimensional visualization: scalar and vector
fields, data structures and data management, volume
    visualization, iconic visualization

- data interpretation: AI-based visualization, object
oriented systems, time dependent visualization, mapping
    techniques

- visualization environment: distributed visualization,
application builders, real time visualization, remote
    visualization, multimedia environments for science

- communication techniques: man computer interactions,
    interprocesses communications, intelligent interfaces

- reference models and standards

- applications and case studies

Contributions: The workshop will be limited to about 40
people to encourage discussion. Selection will take
place on the basis of full technical papers (10-20 pages).
Participation will also be possible in some cases, provided
the submission of a position paper (2-4 pages) describing
relevant on-going works. Both kinds of papers are reviewed
and selected by an international program committee. Accepted
papers will be included in the workshop proceedings. A
further selection will be made for publishing in the
EurographicsSeminar series.

Organization: The Workshop will take place in Italy, at
Viareggio (near Pisa) and is organized by CNUCE CNR for
Eurographics. The fee will be 170 000 Italian Liras. The
workshop is co-chaired by M. Grave (ONERA-F) and P.
Palamidese (CNUCE-I).

Deadlines:
1 February 1992 Deadline for papers
28 March 1992 Notification of acceptance
                          and invitations

Program Committee: L. A. Carpenter (UK), J. D. Cunha (P),
J. Gallop (UK), M. Goebel (D), M. Grave (F), G. Grinstein
(USA), L. Moltedo (I), P. Palamidese (I), F. Post (NL), R.
