Virtual Reality (VR) may be defined as an interactive sensory and control interface between a human and a synthetic or computer fabricated environment; selected stimuli from a physically remote environment (e..g. telerobot or telepresence); or a combination of a synthetic with real physical environmental stimuli. Virtual Reality technology strives to achieve a high degree of naturalness in the interactions (or transactions) across the human)VR interface. Naturalness is achieved by one or more of the following means: displays that evoke stereoscopic vision, stereoscopic sound, and other sensory inputs; controls which rely on the physical motor movements of the human; the temporal and spatial synchronization of sensation and control actions: and feedabck that informs both actors (human and computer) of current states.
