Tauber, University Paderborn Roland Traunmueller, Johannes Kepler University Linz Gerrit C. van der Veer, Free University Amsterdam PROGRAM COMMITEE: Peter Johnson, Queen Mary College Simon Kaplan, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Werner Kuhn, Technical University Vienna and University of Maine Phyllis Reisner, IBM Alistair Sutcliffe, City University London Yvonne Waern, Stockholm University (Chair) Task analysis is a central part of user-oriented design. Although several approaches to task analysis already exist, we still lack a common understanding of the psychological foundations of task analysis, the methods to be used, and their integration into the process of system and user interface design. At this workshop, leading researchers in the field have the opportunity to discuss the state-of-the-art and future of task analysis. We especially want to encourage contributions on - psychological foundations of task analysis - analytical models - task action grammars - object-oriented approaches in task analysis - integration of task analysis into software engineering methods - software tools for task analysis - task analysis in special domains - analysis of cooperative and coordinated tasks (CSCW) Regarding task analysis for special domains, we particularly ask for contributions dealing with spatial tasks, such as those occurring in geographic information systems (GIS), computer aided design (CAD), spatial decision support systems (SDSS) etc. A special workshop session on spatial task analysis is planned. Papers should be in English and comprise 6 to 10 single-spaced pages (3000-6000 words) and an abstract of 200 words. Include several keywords which are suitable for interdisciplinary communication. Produce a separate cover page with the title, the name and affiliation of the author(s), and a contact address (including phone number, fax, and e-mail). Paper deadline: January 31, 1992 Notification: March 15, 1992 Final versions due: May 15, 1992 Send 3 copies of papers to: Yvonne Waern, Program Chair, Department of Psychology, University of Stockholm, S-106 91 Stockholm, Sweden; email: Yvonne.Waern@psyk_inst.dafa.se or yw@psychology.su.se For more information, contact: Michael J.
