I believe the seminal research in this area was with mono stimuli.  
A source you can look at for this research is in D. M. Green, 
BASIC MECHANISMS IN HEARING (A.R. Moller, Ed., Academic Press, 1973),
a chapter titled "Temporal Integration Time."  Sorry, I don't have
any information on research with stereo signals.
