From: RAYNER Andrew David Subject: Viruses! Date: Wed, 16 May 90 18:18:17 GMT Organization: University of Surrey, Guildford, Surrey, UK. GU2 5XH Resently, I have considered the possiblities and types of problems associated with virtual worlds, having read about walkways etc. One major problem would be Viruses: They could take many different forms e.g. A poltergeist - that moves objects around the virtual world in order to cut the user off. A Marcel Marceaux effect where the user is cut off from areas or boxed in. Virtual fog - effectively blinding the user. or at extremes - blinding flashes or loud noises! Also philosophically speaking, what about death - virtually :-) cut off totally or use tactile feedfack to give tingling (ooer!) all over. Just a few points that might get someone thinking about other uses for virtual worlds (possibly?) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Andy Rayner : 'If all the world's a stage why do I get all the bit parts?' ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- |-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-| | Andy 'Clare' Rayner, | 'If you can't beat 'em ,..... | | Dept of Elec. and Elec.
