The more prominent members of House Moragain are outlined below. This does not necessarily include all the family (it most certainly does not include extended family, for example), and only a few of the servants. The House itself is a largish compound, remember; a lot of people need to work to keep it running. Sir Gregory Moragain: the head of the household, Sir Gregory (sometimes referred to as "The Moragain") is an able man, a respectable feat at his fifty or so years. A formal naval officer, he is no longer quite so fast or so strong as he was, but retains a formidable bellow and aura of command, and rules the House with an iron hand. He stands about 5'4" tall, about 160 lbs., his once-dark hair now generously streaked with grey. His arms and chest are scarred from his days as a warrior, and he still tends to walk as if the ground were likely to roll under him. Sir Gregory served in the navy until shortly after he was knighted (for action in a battle with a pirate band; Gregory took charge when the captain was slain, turned defeat into victory, and scuttled everything but the treasure being carried in the pirates' hold). Shortly thereafter, Gregory accepted a land post as an advisor to the Baron; finding himself unsuited for the politics and diplomacy associated with the task, he retired and returned to the family shipbuilding business. He still offers his advice on demand, however. Lady Kittery Moragain: Sir Gregory's wife, a relation of the Kyrmarks. She is now deceased, the victim of an assassin's arrow several years ago (the assass is popularly presumed to have been hired by the Flanis family, of course). In life, she was somewhat frail, but very pious, attractive, and compassionate. Raphael Moragain: the eldest child of the Moragain, heir apparent to the family business and lands. Sir Gregory has been rather careful in the boy's education; he is currently serving as a Quantum lieutenant on the breakwater (Sir Gregory's idea of education includes some exposure to unpleasantness). Lady Ariella Moragain: the last child of Sir Gregory and Lady Kittery; Ariella was two when her mother died. She inherited her mother's lack of constitution and piety, and is in general a useless young romantic. Much of her activity (when not moping) consists of looking for a real Romance (with a capital R) to fall into. She also reads a great deal, her one redeeming trait. Tesleheim Moragain: the family's black sheep, the second son of the family. Tesleheim's is a rather twisted soul, often incomprehensible. Essentially, he despises himself and his family (as trite, blind, and incompetent), but feels he can't do much about it; this drives him to embarrass the family as much as he can, and to almost actively seek physical danger. He loves to bait his father in particular, but stops just short of anything which would get him in genuine trouble. Mikhail Veranin: one of Tesleheim's few friends, the captain of his (private) boat. A big but quiet man, not particularly honest but not truly a thief... Mikhail loves a good brawl, but won't provoke one. He loves any vessel in his care, making sure everything is in perfect order.
