Traps, huh?

1) The Pit
A 10x10x20 deep pit, covered by a stone floor on a swivel. Upon 50lb
or greater weight put on the bottom of the pit, holes about 15' up open
and the place starts to fill with oil. At an appropriate deapth (sp?) a
hole on the opposite side of the pit at the same height opens and a
torch comes in----what I like to call shake-n-bake :)!! Now, whether
the torch is lit or not, and whether or not the characters in the pit
have a chance to catch said torch is up to the DM.

2) The Hallway
Somewhere down in the dungeon is a long-long-long hallway, about five
feet wide. Upon pressure at a certain part of the floor in said
hallway, a hole opens in the ceiling and out drops a small pebble
(?)--actually from a necklace of missles. Volume of ensuing fireball
fills the entire corridor. A variation is a corridor that turns every
20-30 feet or so. Same procedure, same effect.

3) The Trap within a trap...cubed!
At some convenient place there is an illusionary wall. Immediately on
the other side of the wall (possibly covered by an illusiory floor) is a
20X10x10 pit with spikes at the bottom. At about a height of three feet
above the pit is an almost invisible wire--to trip those who try to jump
the pit. But tripping the wire sets off a spear trap--two spears fire
from a wall directly in line with the pit like so:
         * corridor                     *
         - illusiory wall *
         x pit -
         ~ wire x
                                        ~
                                        x
                                        *
                                 ********
      s spear firing position s

A trap within a trap within a trap----!!!

Just my $0.02, with $0.05 for inflation, $0.07 for shiiping and
handling, and, of course, the omnipresent and ubiquitous
$99.99 for tax purposes....<wink>

Cheerio!
