Hello again,
This course is probably one of the most difficult to be found on the PGA
tour each year, and is the grandfather of the "T.P.C." courses.
Although I have strived to duplicate this course in every way, the limitatio
of the "Mean 18" program has prevented me from making it as difficult as the
original.
It may seem that I tend to complain about "Mean 18" alot, but that's not the
case --- I love the "Mean 18" program. If I didn't, I wouldn't spend so much
time playing it or designing courses.
Most of my complaints are in regard to "Accolade", who I've unsuccesfully
tried to have contact with since I first started designing courses in Feb of
'87.
While distances on this course come very close to duplicating actual
conditions, one of the things that is not available on the "Architect" program
is the ability to create hills and valleys in the fairways. Therefor, this
"M18" course plays a little easier.
One last thing --- don't harass me about the trees. One of the other things
that has "bugged" me since I began laying out courses is that I constantly run
out of trees before I've duplicated the "woods" that present a hazard on the
original course. Because of that I designed some "triple" trees to be used
on this course. They may not be "pretty", but they serve the purpose of
giving me more "woods".
Enjoy the course and give me your comments if you'd like.
You can usually leave a message for me on the "Homer" BBS in Philadelphia or
Exec-PC in Milwaukee.
