Documentation For: HANG!MAN by J.D. Carter (CObbler)
----------------------------------------------------
1996 - CObbler Inc. Version 2.0
----------------------------------------------------

Foreward:

After many other ventures into the software development
field I decided on two things.

1. Qbasic/Basic Sucks.
2.  C/C++ is where it's at.
3. I needed this practice.

I had released various other programs, utils and games.
All of the games were DOORS for BBS's but fun none the
less. Due to lack of tutorials and suck on the topic
of C, i was confined to basic. After much fustration
with the limitations / retardations of BASIC i took it
upon myself to learn it, or die trying. I took a month
and a bit more to learn the language, i didn't have much
confidence in myself and need practice so i decided to
make a hang man game. The whole process took about 1.5
weeks, working in very small portions. (having a life
tends to interfere with coding). After many hours and
various hardships, the first release is ready.

Released: Sunday March 30th 1996. Version 2.0

Included Files:

hang!man.exe - main exe module.
hms.dat - data file, needed for operation.
hangman.dat - wordlist.
egavga.bgi - graphics file needed by C++.
readme.txt - this file.
file_id.diz - description for BBS uploads.
fontrest.exe - a tiny exe that will restore your standard dos font on exit.
hmlogo.img - opening graphics, needed.

Requirements:

-Vga Video

-286 Processor (might run on less)
 * Because of newer graphics and stuff, I recommend a 386/25.

-200k or so harddisk space
 * Graphics tend to chew disk space.

Instructions:
Run the exe.
Select an option:
        P - Play the Game.
        R - Read this file.
O - Output this file to printer. (Default) Make sure printer is on.
A - Adds a word to the word library.
Q - Quits, why would you want to use this?
Select Play the game.
A screen is drawn, with some places for scores, the alphabet is printed
and it asks you for a letter, put one in and see if you get it right.
The rest should be quite obvious. Every miskake means 1 more body
part drawn. Note regardless of your first guess being right or wrong
the gallows is drawn. 6 mistakes and you lost that round. At the end of
every round it asks you to continue, your wins and loses are also kept
track of.

Features:

- VGA vector graphics.
* Now look a bit nicer.

- CUSTOMIZABLE word list.
* Use the 'A' option for the main or use a standard
text editor to customize it. (hangman.dat)
make sure you don't use caps or spaces. Feel
free to use any other character but the game
won't mark off anything but the alphabet that you
used.

-ONLINE DOX
* Your looking at em'

New Features:
- Nicer Color Graphics
- Opening VGA Screen
- Randomized Wordlist
- Will Not mark you twice for the same mistake.
- Displays Word In List
- FONTREST.EXE will restore your default MS-DOS font.
- Beeps On Mistakes
- Randomally doesn't count mistakes to improve your odds.

New For Version 2.0:
- You will notice that "unregistered" notices appear throughout the game.
This is because after all the work I put into this I feel that registering
it for $5, if you like it and use it, is a small thing to ask. If you
register you will get those warnings and all that annoying stuff removed
and you will also get a bonus word list, making the game newer and exiting!
Support the concept of shareware. It is not crippled in anyway, because
I hate that kind thing. Don't be a rat. Register Today!
