Speed Tuning ------------ CoNnect is a GEM Program which will automatically reduce its speed in comparison to programs which rely on simple ST-Mono Screens an use no windows at all. But there are several options where you can improve the speed of CoNnect. 1) Use a Screen Accellerator like NVDI. The use of Warp9 or QUICK-ST can not be recommended at the moment as this accelerators are not at all bug free. 2) Smaller GDOS fonts mean a gain in speed. Use CONNECT.FNT or CONNLIGH.FNT which are still readable but fast in output. 3) Without NVDI you should set the Flag 'Snap Positions' in the misc dialog. 4) You could either use no scrollbars or set the flag to update the scrollbars in pauses only in the terminal size dialog. 5) Open capture files will also reduce speed when writing to a slow disk. In this case a RAM-Disk will help a lot. 6) The statusline is a nice feature but will reduce output speed. 7) The quickest output is available when you use at least 50 buffer lines (terminal size dialog) and set the flag 'fast scrolling' (display dialog). This will make CoNnect one of the fastest GEM telecomms package on the atari.
