This is a DEMO version of PatchPro VFX. It is a simple but useful librian for the Atari ST (Mono is best) and Ensoniq VFX. Features such as SAVE & LOAD along with some of the patch moving abilities have been disabled in this DEMO version. The actual program is avaliable for purchase (including many programmed sounds for the VFX) through Cesium Sound Berkeley CA. (415) 548-6193 Following is some documentation for the actual program for your reference: On your disk you should have these files. PatchPro.prg This is the main program. vfx.rsc This is the resource file ( Do NOT change this name or put in different folder than main program ) vfx.rsd Also needed by the main program. read_me This text file. If you purchased sounds with the program, these will also be on the disk in a folder marked "SOUNDS". The program is very strightforward. FILE-- Use the FILE menus to open and save sounds to disk. Each file type ( sounds & presets) has it's own unique suffix (VFX & VXP) which is added automaticly to the name you give your banks. When you load sounds, only files with the VFX (or VXP) suffix will be visible in the item selector. Quit exits the program. You can also type ALT Q to exit. (Hold the ALTERNATE key down and type Q). EDIT-- Use this menu to manipulate individual sounds. To move sounds around, click on the name of a sound untill it goes to reverse video ( once maybe twice ), then go up to the menu for each command. CLEAR erases the sound completely. CUT erases the sound and puts it in a buffer or "clipboard" ready for pasting. COPY leaves the sound and puts it in the buffer ready for pasting. PASTE puts whatever sound is in the buffer in the last place highlighted. You can arrange sounds in a bank and move sounds between banks to customize your sound arrangement. Using the keyboard commands makes this quick and easy. VFX-- Use the VFX menus to GET and SEND sounds to the VFX. It takes about 25 seconds for a bank of sounds to be transfered via MIDI. Presets take just a couple seconds. If your VFX should hang the program during a GET, simply manually send a single sound via the VFX storage functions. (Storage\ midi sys-ex\ programs\ current program) The program will tell you the data is bad. Always works the next time around. Never play the keyboard during a data transfer. You can also send single sounds to the VFX. Highlight a name in the sound window, then use SEND ONE SOUND. This sends the sound to the edit buffer of the VFX. If you were working on a sound in the edit buffer the new "sent" sound will overwrite it. MIDI-- This simply changes the midi channel that the program "talks" on. Match it to the base channel of your VFX. This program works best with a monochrome monitor. Now you can use your Atari to hold hundreds of sounds and organize them to your liking.
