EMSI_LAN is a very simple utility designed to maintain statistics
about the mailers used by your links. It analyzes the EMSI log file of
T-Mail, updates its own binary statistics database (EMSI_LAN.bin) and
creates the output text file (EMSI_LAN.out). EMSI_LAN keeps the
information about all the mailers used by each of your links and the
dates when the mailers changed.

Using EMSI_LAN is easy. First, you should define the variable EMSI_Log
in your T-MAIL.CTL. Once in a while, you should run EMSI_LAN and
specify the full path to the EMSI.LOG file in the command line. Then
you can view the output statistics or use an external utility to post
the statistics to an echomail area, for example.

Currently, EMSI_LAN supports only EMSI.LOG files created by T-Mail.
Adding support of other mailers is a trivial task. If you need it,
please send me a sample of the EMSI.LOG file created by your mailer.

The binary statistics file generated by EMSI_LAN consists of fixed
length records, each of which corresponds to one mailer used by one of
your links. The links are sorted by address, and the mailers of one
link are sorted by first session date. The records have the following
format:

00h 02h WORD system zone number
02h 02h WORD system net number
04h 02h WORD system node number
06h 02h WORD system point number

08h 04h DWORD UnixTime of the first session with that node
                      using that mailer

     0Ch 28h STRING mailer name
     34h 28h STRING mailer version
5Ch 40h STRING mailer serial number

The program is completely free. Binaries for other platforms (OS/2 and
Win32) and the source code are available on request.

I'd like to thank Jury Fradkin (2;5030/339) for the idea of the
program.
