DISCLAIMER:

                              LEGALITIES
                              __________

THIS SOFTWARE AND ACCOMPANYING MATERIALS ARE DISTRIBUTED "AS IS"
WITHOUT WARRANTY, EXPRESSED, IMPLIED OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING BUT NOT
LIMITED TO ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS
FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. IN NO EVENT SHALL ANYONE INVOLVED WITH
THE CREATION AND PRODUCTION OF THIS PRODUCT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT,
SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, ARISING OUT OF ANY USE THEREOF
      OR BREACH OF ANY WARRANTY.

INSTALLATION:

1> Create a directory to hold the files in this archive.

2> Copy the files into the door directory.

3> Change to the door directory and run the INSTALL.BAT. When
finished, there should be a "SCREENS", "INFO", "USERS" and a
"BROKERS" directory in the main door directory.

4> Edit the STOCKS.CFG and STOCKS.SYS to suit your particular BBS
software. You may rename the .CFG file but, DO NOT rename the
STOCKS.SYS file. The door looks for that filename only.

5> Edit the DOOR.BAT for your BBS situation.

6> Run the READSTK.EXE program and compile your first database. You
will need to manually UNZIP the PCSTOKxx.xxx file and retrieve the
     QUOTES.ASC file.

     READSTK G:\QUOTES

DO NOT enter a filename on the command line, the program defaults
     to QUOTES.ASC.

I wrote a batch file that my mailer uses to automatically update
the database as new files come down the satellite. You will need
to work out a solution for you particular situation.

If you are running under Win95, You can set up the Scheduling Agent
(SAGE) to check for new files periodically. Read the SAGE
     instructions.

My mailer is Platinum Xpress and it allows me to look for Semaphore
files and act on them. I set up PCSTOK*.* as a semaphore and PX
runs my PCSTOK.BAT when a new archive arrives. See the enclosed
     SEMA.GIF for my PX setup.

7> Set the door up in your BBs setup.

8> Login and check it out.

BROKERS:

OLSQ has the ability to display Broker Ads. This will
allow you to sell ad space to stock brokers or other
financial institutions to help support your BBS.
Create a directory named "BROKERS" in your door
directory. You may have up to 10 different Ad files.
The naming convention is "BROKER.x" with "x" being a
number between 1 and 10. You will also need to enable
this function in the STOCKS.SYS file. (Line #5)

INFO:

You may add a library of information to OLSQ. The
'INFO" sub-directory was created when the INSTALL.BAT
                was run.

This directory may contain up to 99 individual
documents. The naming convention is "INFOx", with the
"x" being the file number. The files must be numbered
in order with NO skips. IOW, if you have #3 and #5, you
*MUST* have a #4. If you don't the door will not operate
                properly. Trust me. <G>

Create a file named "MENU.DAT" and place it in the
"INFO" directory. This file has a specific format. See
                the enclosed sample for details.

There is a wealth of information concerning stock, bonds
and securities and this feature wil allow you to form
                your own personal library.

SAMPLES:

There are sample .BAT files and setup files for every file needed
by OLSQ. You may leave in the comment lines in any of the files for
     future reference.

CFG file layout:

     C:\WC30\WCWORK\NODE1\USERINFO.DATĿ
C:\PCB\USERS.SYS <- Path to User file. I recommend
C:\SF\SFDOORS.DAT using USERS.SYS for PCBoard and
     C:\BBS\DORINFOx.DEF USERINFO.DAT for Wildcat! 3.x
     C:\BBS\CALLINFO.BBS DOOR.SYS for Wildcat! 4.x
     C:\BBS\GTUSER.DAT
     C:\BBS\DOOR.SYS
     C:\BBS\PCBOARD.SYS
     C:\BBS\TRIBBS.SYS
The Parole Board BBS <- BBS Name
     Dennis <- SysOp's first name
     Maidon <- SysOp's last name

DSZCFG.x Layout:

     NAMING FORMAT: "DSZCFG.x" (x=Node Number).

DSZ <-Line 1
2F8,3 <-Line 2

=========================================================================
This file requires *ONLY* 2 lines. I have included the instructions
here to enable you to locate them a bit easier.

With this release, users that enter an event may also
upload an ANSI display screen. This will require
creating a file named "DSZCFG.x", with the "x" being the
node number. If you have more than 1 node, you must
create a file for each node. The format is as follows:

Line 1: "DSZ" or "GSZ" (without the quotes) Place the
filename of whichever program you use.

Line 2: You will need to enter the BASE,IRQ of the node
you are operating on here. For example, If you
are using COM2, you should place "2F8,3" on
this line. See the enclosed DSZCFG.1 for a
                         sample.

                         COM1 3F8,4 Ŀ Standard
                         COM2 2F8,3
COM3 3E8,<IRQ> ĿPut correct IRQ number
                         COM4 2F8,<IRQ> instead of <IRQ>

You should read the DSZ/GSZ documentation and the
X00.SYS DOCs for further details. You should also have
DSZ.COM or GSZ.COM located in a directory that is in
your path. Users will be given a choice of ZMODEM,
                XMODEM, XMODEM-1K, XMODEM-CRC, YMODEM and YMODEM-1K. I
wholeheartedly recommend that you register DSZ or GSZ
from Chuck Forsberg if you intend to use it.

SCREENS:

You may use the opening screen (WELCOME.xxx) that is supplied
with OLSQ or, you may create your own with TheDraw. You must use
the following statement in any screen you create.

     Copyright 1995-96, PAROLE Software

Once the door is registered, you may utilize up to 22 lines for your
     opening screen.

     WELCOME.ANS
     WELCOME.ASC

These are the initial logon screens for the door. The ANSI
screen must be no wider than 78 characters and should not have
          a ClearScreen character. "e]2J"

Neither screen can be no more than 17 lines in length.

     INSTRUCT.ANS
     INSTRUCT.ASC

These are the help screens. The ANSI cannot be more than 78
characters wide. The length of this file does not matter.

     SPECIAL.TXT

This is a straight ASCii file and it displays immediately
after the WELCOME.xxx screen. This file should contain any
pertinent info that you wish to convey to the door users.

The .ANS and .ASC files go into the "\SCREENS" directory. The
SPECIAL.TXT goes in the door directory.

The .ASC files should be plain ASCii with no RIP, ANSI or
special color codes. The does DOES NOT recognize BBS color
          codes.

Fossil Driver Support
---------------------
DoorFrame supports the use of Fossil drivers. To tell your Door to use the
Fossil driver instead of the standard COM ports, just put /FD on the command
line when running the door. For example:
     MYDOOR MYDOOR.CFG /FD
indicates that a Fossil driver is present and should be used. If no Fossil
driver is detected, DoorFrame will print a message to that effect and exit
the door gracefully.

Environment Variables
---------------------
DoorFrame supports COM 1-4 on the standard IRQ's - COM1/COM3 = IRQ4 and
COM2/COM4 = IRQ3. If you wish to use a non-standard IRQ, add the IRQ
number after the configuration filename. Let's assume your Door is
called FOOBAR and you want to use COM1 and IRQ5. The command line
passed to your Door would be:
    FOOBAR FOOBAR.CFG /5 or
FOOBAR FOOBAR.CFG /%IRQ% for the environment variable.
The /5 tells DoorFrame to use IRQ5 rather than the standard IRQ4 that
is normally used with COM1. No /x parameter is needed for the standard IRQ's.

When specifying the location of the system file on line 1 of the doors .CFG
file, you may use the environment variables %pcbdrive%, %pcbdir%, %pcbnode%,
and %wcnodeid%. Some examples:
 PCBoard:
   USERS.SYS in C:\PCB - %pcbdrive%%pcbdir%\USERS.SYS
   USERS.SYS in C:\PCB\NODE1 - %pcbdrive%%pcbdir%\NODE%pcbnode%\USERS.SYS

 Wildcat!:
   USERINFO.DAT in C:\WC\NODE1 - C:\WC\NODE%wcnodeid%

Non-PCBoard systems may use the PCB environment variables by setting them
in either AUTOEXEC.BAT or in the batch that runs the door. For example:
 SET PCBDRIVE=C:
 SET PCBDIR=\BBSDIR
 SET PCBNODE=1

 Some examples:
PCBoard: If USERS.SYS is located in C:\PCB\NODE1 directory,
       %pcbdrive%%pcbdir%\NODE%pcbnode%\USERS.SYS
Wildcat!: USERINFO.DAT located in C:\WC\NODE3 directory,
       C:\WC\NODE%wcnodeid%\USERINFO.DAT
or if you SET the %pcbdrive% and %pcbdir% variables via the batch,
       %pcbdrive%%pcbdir%\NODE%wcnodeid%\USERINFO.DAT

486DX CPU's
-----------
The math coprocessor in 486DX CPUs cannot handle floating point math which
all MicroSoft Basic's use. This can show up as an ERROR 5, a keyboard
timeout, etc.

Fortunately there is an easy fix for this problem. Simply place the following
line in the AUTOEXEC.BAT file:

SET NO87=ON

ANSI:

You must have an ANSI driver loaded in your CONFIG.SYS before you
will be able to view the screens locally with this door.

ERROR.QB

This file contains quite a bit of information that may help you out
of a jam. Please read it before asking for support. That could
save both of us some time.

                             DISTRIBUTION
                             ____________

You may make this file available for downloading from your BBS or you may
upload it to any BBS of your choice, provided that you do not make any
changes to the contents of the archive (ZIP file). The archive and its
individual contents may not be used by any service that charges any money
whatsoever, without the written permission of the author.

This ZIP file was created using the -AV function of PKZIP. If
my AV is missing then this file may not be complete or has been
tampered with. Complete and current editions of this program
are always available for D/L on The Parole Board BBS. If the -AV
is missing please complain to your sysop to stop the practice of
removing AV's as this is your assurance from the programmer that
the file is complete and virus free.

      Kudos:

A special thanks to my tireless BETA testers. Mike Rickman,
          Ed Marquis and Walter Cade.

The WELCOME and INSTRUCT screens were created by Mike Rickman.

A note of thanks to those of you that reported bugs and
          problems with the wide-beta releases.

OLSQ is written in VB/DOS using the DoorFrame Door module.

As always, thanks for my wife, Brenda, for allowing me to play
          with my computer toys.
