                                DDS FDN
                     Policy and Information Statement

DDS is a File Distribution Network for BBS doors and certain other BBS
special projects which are door related and certain BBS Software and
Utilites. The file echos are carried by many SysOps all over the world
and is an excellent means to achieve large distribution of your BBS door,
door utilites, add ons and new developing BBS software. There are three
file echos: DDSDOORS, DDSBBS and DDSEXTRA.

DDSDOORS is the area specifially for BBS Doors and Utilities.
DDSBBS is for Miscellaneous BBS Software and Utilities.
DDSEXTRA is for BBS Special Projects.

We hatch your file(s) where it is sent to all DDS systems connected to
  each file echo.

This is a free service to authors but in order to process files with the
utmost speed, submissions must meet these simple rules.

   1. Please submit your file in ZIP format. This is the compressor of choice
for most all SysOps per discussions in door echos.

   2. Please be sure your file contains a FILE_ID.DIZ and that it meets the
standards for same. For more information on a proper FILE_ID.DIZ, FREQ
(the magic name) FILEID from us; file name FILEID17.ZIP.

   3. Please be sure to include a description that will be used for the TIC
file that describes your file as best possible. This should in the
netmail which accompanies the file to this system. This description
CAN NOT exceed 255 characters and it's best to keep it to about 200.
Do NOT use high ascii or ansi. Should you omit this, we will use your
FILE_ID.DIZ for the TIC description and edit as necessary for the
      size requirement.

   4. You must either send netmail to this system asking us to hatch it for
you or log onto the BBS here and upload the file to us. If you log on
the BBS, you can upload right away but we must verify your identity
before we hatch your file. (See Internet File Submission Info below)
Be sure you leave SysOp mail that you have uploaded it!!!

   5. Only AUTHORS may submit their files for hatching. If you intend to
hatch for an author who is unable to do so, please include a copy of
a message the author has sent to you which authorizes you to submit
his/her file and the exact name of said file.

   6. Virus check your files before submission! We will virus check here
but if you should submit a virus infected file, we reserve the right
to refuse to hatch for you again at this site.

   7. Use CRASH netmail only to send your files and do not route them.
Those who wish to send us files via the Internet, please read Internet
      file submissions below.

   8. Please do NOT hatch in more than one File Echo that is using Fido
      routing for distribution.

If there is a specific File Echo for your BBS Software or
Utility, such as Wildcat, for example, contact the proper FDN head
of that File Echo. DDS will hatch BBS software ONLY when there is no
specific File Echo for that software.

   9. Submit ONLY freeware and/or shareware.

  10. Files submitted must have something to do with BBS operations.

Special Info for Internet File Submissions
                ------------------------------------------

An FTP site is available for files you wish to be hatched through the
DDS FDN. Please be certain you have followed the other instructions
above and use this method for drop off to us.

FTP to ftp.doorgames.org, log on anonymously and use ONLY the directory
called incoming for your upload. Remember to include a message in a
separate file that you also upload asking the file(s) be hatched
(name them please) and also giving your TIC descriptions. PLEASE name
this message something similar to each file name. If you do not wish to
send this TIC description, we will use and edit your FILE_ID.DIZ as
best possible. Your file(s) and message will be deleted when they have
securely downloaded. This is a secure directory in that no one other
than DDS HQ may download and/or delete files. Be sure the file(s)
are in ZIP format and not encripted. For your protection, it is strongly
suggested that you also Email ruth@doorgames.org that you have dropped
off files for submission just in case your file does not arrive.
Confirmation of receipt will be sent if you send email. Please note:
You MAY use email for your TIC descriptions, etc. following the above
  format.
                             --- or ---

You may email attach files to ruth@doorgames.org. Please be sure your
email includes the TIC information as explained above. Do NOT email files
which exceed 1.5 megs encoded as our email server will return them. If you
cannot FTP the file, contact me via email for an alternative email address
  for these larger files.
                             --- or ---

You may also upload files for us to hatch at http://www.doorgames.org using
your browser! Information is on the site as to how to do this.

DO NOT upload this file to Tim McGarry at bbs.goldengate.net. We will do our
normal file integrity checking, virus checking, etc., hatch out your files AND
also will FTP the file(s) over to Tim's site for downloads in a special
  directory just for this purpose.

                        --------------------------

You may use either the address of 1:2404/201 or 1:2404/200 as a FREQ address
to use in your promos as all files will be available here for FREQ to FidoNet
listed sysops, exact file name please.

This system WILL accept mail from ALL systems irregardless of FidoNet
affiliation. Anyone may FREQ any Fido file, the FILEID file and the
DDS information and policy file. Other FREQ's are limited to FidoNet
  listed SysOps. (Speeds to 33.3)

Be advised that systems which are not FidoNet listed MUST be verified by us
in order to hatch your files so include a voice verification phone number
in your netmail and the best time to call you COLLECT.

If you are unable to get your file to us in any of the above methods,
you may log onto our BBS at (661) 724-7834 and directly upload your
file to us in the special upload area provided. We will verify your
identity before hatching (see info on the BBS).

We will post an announcement of the hatching of all DDS files in the
DOORGAMES, DOORWARE, DDS_ECHO and all appropriate file annoucement echoes.
By watching for these, you will know when the file was actually sent "up
the line." Your file will be available for FREQ from this system from the
time of our "hatching" announcement (exact file name and not magic names
in most cases). It will be available at that time via FTP from
bbs.goldengate.net also and at our DDS Web Site http://www.doorgames.org
  and ftp.doorgames.org.

If you have any questions about these procedures, please send netmail and
you will be answered via ROUTED netmail, so allow a few days for delivery.
You may also send Email with any questions to ruth@doorgames.org.

Send your files/netmail, etc. to Ruth Argust at 1:2404/201 or to Gerry
  Calhoun at 1:2404/200.
