@<7Please not... This document is a short version of a hypertext document which
@<7was included in the orginal CyberMagik archive called CMPLAYER.ZIP (or ARJ
@<7or whatever). If the sysop has not made this file avaible for download ask
@<7kindly if he or she would do so. As it contains more detailed information
@<7on the Cybermagik game world.

@<7 -The Auther

@<2T@<ah@<2e @<2S@<at@<2o@<ar@<2y@<7:
@<7 In the north western corner of Ti'Connor there is a small town called
@<7Llenerva. Sometymes people from this small town decide to check out the land.
@<7And, since there is really nothing better to do, they go ahead and do it. You
@<7are one such person. You save some money and decide to get some weapons,
@<7food, medical supplies and maybe some armour and magiks if you can afford
@<7them, then you step out into the wide world to see how you can make your
@<7fortune......
@<7 Meanwhile in other parts of Ti'Connor stories are floating around about a
@<7fabulous city that is called CyberMagik. There one can find riches beyond
@<7one's wildest dreams. Some say that it lays in the Eastern Desert, others
@<7claim that it is Beyond the ocean to the south west. There are some who
@<7claim it is deep in the mines of Moria. Or on an island in some unknown
@<7lake. Hum... Maybe if YOU can find this CyberMagik YOU will have that which
@<7so many seek!

@<8!!@<7!!@<f!! @<9The all important command list @<f!!@<7!!@<8!!
@<7Here are a few commands that you can use just about anywhere... I Will not
@<7repeat them for the places that they are used.

@<7Help (@<2?@<7) This will display a menu of commands

@<7Player Information (@<2I@<7) Will give you the stats of you character.

@<7Quit (@<2Q@<7) Either Quit the game or quit your current menu.

@<7Maintenance (@<2!@<7) Ready/Unready Items, Maintain NPCs, Change your preferences,
      Mix potions.

@<7 Towns are complex and have LOTS of different types of commands... Most of
@<7them should be labeled in an easy to understand way. So I'm not gonna make
@<7this doc file so large by including them. Once you leave town you will see a
@<7display that looks something like this:

@<7Or you can use (@<1N@<7)orth, (@<1S@<7)outh, (@<1E@<7)ast, and (@<1W@<7)est. There is no letter
@<7movement command for angles. The other two movement commands are (@<1>@<7) up and
@<7(@<1<@<7) down. If you cannot safely (or easily) move in that up / down it will
@<7ask if your sure you want to move that way.

@<7 Other command that you can use in the world map are (@<1P@<7)ick Up... which is
@<7for getting items that you see laying around. (@<1D@<7)rop which will drop an
@<7Item from your inventory. (@<1K@<7)ill Item which will destroy an item that is
@<7laying around and give you two (@<12@<7) points of experience.

@<7 There is also a (@<1U@<7)se Item command for using items. A (@<1G@<7)o Into command for
@<7entering buildings/towns. A (@<1L@<7[@<15@<7])ook command for getting a brief description
@<7of your surroundings. Build (@<1H@<7)ostel for building a base. (@<1A@<7)ttack Player
@<7allows you to attack, steal from, or give things to a player. (@<1C@<7)ast will use
@<7a readied spell book. And Use Se(@<1T@<7) will use a readied computer.
@<7 Sometymes as you are running around in the world map you will be attacked by
@<7monsters. You will end up in a combat screen something like this:

                                                         @<fJoe Blow

                                                 @<9c

                                                      @<7H
                                                        @<1Round 1 Segment 4
@<1(M)ove (A)im (T)hrow (C)ast (S)urrender (R)un (G)uard (W)ait (!)

@<7 Combat works with 12 phases per round. Each creature on the screen has a
@<7speed between 1 through 12, there speed determens how meny phases per round
@<7thay can move. A creature with speed 1 can only move in phase 12. A creater
@<7with speed 12 can move in every round. You will start out with a speed of 3.

@<7A gray H is ALWAYS a Player Character. You will always start in the lower
@<7right corner with your NPCs (Non Player Characters). The characters starting
@<7in the upper left corner are the monsters that you need to kill! The commands
@<7are

@<7(@<1M@<7)ove Move your character (using the same movement keys as in the world
@<7map) up to six spaces per combat turn, if you move into a monster you will
@<7attack close range. You will have three moves when you hit 'M' if you use
@<7them and then hit 'M' again you will get three more moves but after that
@<7your turn will end.

@<7 (@<1A@<7)im brings up a targeting cursor which you move (again with the same keys,
@<7enter once you have found your target) to your target. If your target is
@<7right next to you, you'll attack with the close range weapon. Other wise
@<7(if you have one AND are in range) it will fire your long range weapon.

@<7 (@<1T@<7)hrow will give you a list of your items, for you to choose from. It will
@<7then bring up a targeting cursor which you move to your target. You will then
@<7throw the item (Even if it's something you wouldn't think of throwing) at that
@<7space. Some thrown items will explode.

@<7 (@<1C@<7)ast will give you a list of combat usable spell. Once you have chosen one,
@<7and if it is aimable (it may give you other choices) it will give you a
@<7targeting cursor for you to move. Spells do many different things.

@<7 (@<1U@<7)se will allow you to use an item in combat. Most items you will not have
@<7time for but you can read scrolls as well as a few other things.

@<7 (@<1R@<7)un will (if you are at the edge of the screen) take you from battle.

@<7 (@<1G@<7)uard is a command that says, "There is nothing I can do this round" and
@<7you don't do anything until the next round of combat.

@<1Maintance commands @<f--@<7--@<8--

@<7 (@<eR@<7)eady/(@<eU@<7)nready are commands used to equip items for your character. These
@<7are VERY important becouse even if you have a sword, if it isn't ready you
@<7will still use your fist to fight.

@<7 (@<eJ@<7)oin/(@<eH@<7)alve are for puting items togeather or taking them appart. You can
@<7only join certen kinds of objects and only things which are the same. (I.E.
@<7you can join Rations to Rations or Healing Potions to Healing Potions but not
@<7Rations to Healing Potions or Long Swords to Long Swords)

@<7 (@<eE@<7)xchange Items allows you to move items around.

@<7 (@<eM@<7)ix is for mixing potions using reagants. I'll letcha play around with this
@<7one, so you can see what it does.

@<7 (@<eC@<7)lerical Magik (Registered Only) Will allow you to memorize Clerical Spells
@<7this is done during the nightly maintance of the game.

@<7 (@<eN@<7)PC Maintance. Will allow you to do things with and to your NPCs. The
@<7commands you can use there are (@<eD@<7)rop which drops the NPC from your party,
@<7(@<eN@<7)ame which will give an NPC which has no name a name, (@<eG@<7)ive for giving NPC's
@<7items, (@<eC@<7)lerical (Registered Only) tell your clerics which spells to memorize,
@<7,quick h(@<eE@<7)al for healing wounded NPCs, and the (H)old back toggle which tells
@<7your NPCs not to run into battle, but to "hold back"

@<7 (@<eK@<7)configure Prefs will take you to the preferences menu. See below for
@<7details.

@<1preferences @<f-@<7-@<8- @<7You can set these so that the game will act in different ways

@<51 @<7Combat Message Delay is how long (In milliseconds) the computer will display
@<7the Combat messages for. Range is 0(fast) to 255(Slow).

@<52 @<7Move Dist Display is weather or not you want it to display how meny moves
@<7you have left in the combat move command. Slower modem users might want
     @<7to turn this off.

@<53 @<7Throw Stuff If Attacked if this is on and you have throwing weapons and you
@<7are attacked by another player you will throw them.

@<54 @<7Spells is for setting up which magik spells the player will use while you
@<7are not online. You will be shown a list of the 8 settings, by pressing
@<71 through 8 you will get a list of your current spells (if you have any)
@<7and will be asked which to cast. Then you will be asked for the percent
@<7of time to cast, the minimim and maximim magik then the minimim and
@<7maximin health. The lower numbers will be checked first.

@<55 @<7Combat Style is how your character chooses his target when you attack by
@<7another player. Random will pick a random target and Leader will pick
@<7the other player. All other options are ovious.

@<56 @<7Text File Display Color is the color that things like the logon info or the
@<7player docs will be displayed. Basicly what happened is someone
@<7complained about the color I was using so...

@<57 @<7Number of Lines is how meny lines your screen can display. I would suggest
@<7that you set it to 1 less then - and menu bars or status lines.

@<58 @<7Hold back Toggle. You can tell your character not to run across the battle
@<7field if he is attacked while you are not online.

@<59 @<7Auto Heal Toggle makes your character heal everyone in your party after a
@<7battle. If you do this be sure to keep lots of healing potions on hand.

@<510 @<7Combat Boarder is just a fancy thing I added.

@<511 @<7Auto Join Toggle will (if on) make your charactor automaticly join items
     @<7as he picks things up.

@<512 @<7Search\Item Display Mode. This is an extended ANSI display. I put support
@<7for ansi pictures when examing items and searching tarrain but have only
@<7done a few pictures. If you are into ANSI send them to the address listed
@<7on the startup of the game. If I like them, I'll add them and note your
@<7name at the bottom of this file.

@<513 @<7Auto Eat if on your charactor will automaticly eat something if it's in
@<7invintory when he/she/it gets hungery. If you toggle this on pay attain
@<7to your food supplys as closely as if it wasn't.

@<514 @<7Auto Search... Every time you step onto a new tarrain type it searches...

@<1Advanced Features @<f--@<7--@<8---

@<7 There are a few things which need to be noted somewheres in these docs..
@<7so I am thowing this section in so that people can find out about them. There
@<7are a few advanced features which need to be noted. First off is the
@<7"Extention" commands. These are commands which can be accessed from places
@<7where numbers would normally be put. Below is a list of all the commands..
@<7where to use them and what thay do.

@<7Command Used here What it does.
@<7------------ ------------------- ---------------------------------------------
@<eALL @<7Drop/Get/Kill item Does All Possible.

@<e? @<7Any Help or List
@<eL @<7 See ?
@<eLIST @<7 See ?

@<7Stacked commands! Ok you can "Stack" commands... sorta. Only things which
@<7are not hot keyed can be stacked. But if you stack things and a hot key would
@<7need to be pressed in order to deal with the stacked stuff it will keep
@<7repeating the last command entered for any hot key commands to come along.
@<7To do this place a ; between each of the commands you want to do. Simple...
@<7For instance say you are out on the waist land and you see these items laying
@<7around

@<71> Ruby Ring 2> Wand of Wonder 3> Longsword
@<74> Human Corpse 5> Plate Mail +3 6> Crystal Ball
@<77> Huge Rate Corpse

@<7Now the you decide that you want to kill the Wand of wonder, the Human Corpse,
@<7and the Huge Rate Corpse. You can hit K then enter 2;4;7 and it will happily
@<7go about smashing the Wand and the Corpses.

@<7Now then... There are some features of the game which may not be compleatly
@<7obvous. And a few may go against what has been said earlier in this document.
@<f;) @<7I'm not gonna list what thay ARE it will be more fun if you find them
@<7yourself. So play around with stuff. Try strange and wonderful things. You
@<7may find some wonderful way to smash your enemy or perhaps a unique technique
@<7for teaming up. (Do notice that there is no formal team structure. There isn't
@<7gonna be one eather. I decide that CyberMagik lends itself quite well to
@<7working togeather without some sorta artifical system.)

@<7 -Enjoy
@<7 Mark J. Cook

@<7Thanx and special mention

@<7 This is added to thank people who help in some way with the development of
@<7the game, Owen Davies who made a couple monsters. (Prospectors and Barbarains
@<7to name a few) Rick Shellhammer who corrected meny spelling errors in 2.03
@<7which helped make the game a little more readable. (And also made a few
@<7monsters.) All those who have reported errors that I either have already c
@<7orrected or am working on correcting.
