Phonebook: ---------- - It is now possible to copy the local phonebook entry settings to the main preferences settings. - The call rate control has been greatly enhanced (multiple time settings, different settings for the first unit and all following units). - The dialing functions in the main menu and the phonebook will be disabled if the program is still online. To make them available one needs to hang up the line first. Clipboard support: ------------------ - Screen text clipping has been rewritten to support multiple lines and pages. - Clipboard pasting will now correctly process multiple `CHRS' chunks. - The 256 byte limit for clipboard reads is gone. Similar to xprascii.library adjustable character/line send delays have been added. - The clipboard routines no longer only use the primary unit #0 but a user-defined unit number. Terminal emulation: ------------------- - The ANSI standard `insert character' sequence has been added to the command set. - The built-in terminal emulation routines have been rewritten in order to reduce overhead and processing time. - `term' 2.3 now supports the new external emulation library interface as defined by the 2.0 specs. - It is now possible to disable the terminal printer support routines. ARexx: ------ (Contrary to what the "Telecommunications" article in the July 1992 issue of `Amazing Computing' says about "Term 2.03" the ARexx port was not removed) - A hotkey-combination has been added to abort a running ARexx command. - A new ARexx command has been added to terminate the program from within an ARexx script. - BUG FIXED: The default script file name extension used to be `..term' instead of `.term'. File transfer: -------------- - The alert signal issued when a file transfer is finished has been made user-configurable. - If enabled, the transfer routines will track the presence of the carrier signal. If the carrier is lost during the transfer, the transfer is aborted. - The transfer control window will be opened inactive if no `term' window is active when the transfer starts. - The transfer menu will be disabled if no transfer protocol is to be opened. - If plain ASCII file transfer is invoked, the program tries to locate xprascii.library in the same path as the currently active transfer protocol. If the library can still not be opened it will drop back to the default `Libs:' search path. - The settings windows for xpr protocol and xem emulation options now sport the same set of `Use' and `Cancel' buttons as all the other settings windows. - BUG FIXED: It was impossible to control the transfer panel by keyboard. Serial device and modem control: -------------------------------- - xON/xOFF software handshaking can now be enabled along with RTS/CTS hardware handshaking. - If enabled, the program will track the presence of the carrier signal every five seconds. - If changing the serial settings causes the serial device to respond with an error the program will now display the cause of the error and reset the device if necessary. - A new default command sequence has been added: the logoff macro. - In addition to the dial string prefix a dial string suffix has been added. Text buffer: ------------ - The hotkey-combination can now be used to open the text buffer screen. - BUG FIXED: It was possible that the text buffer screen was not closed when the program was terminated. Printing: --------- - The program has been enhanced to support both screen printing (hardcopy) and printing of the clipboard contents. The printing process can be aborted at any time. Miscellaneous enhancements: --------------------------- - `term' now sports a font-sensitive user-interface. - The main menu layout has changed to conform to the `Amiga User Interface Style Guide' standard. - A new support window has been added: the status window. It displays miscellaneous information such as the last modem connect string, the terminal window size, etc. - The screen panel now sports a new `Use default colours' button. - Requested by several users, `term' will now write `NComm'-compatible callinfo log files. Other bugs which have been fixed: --------------------------------- - The fast! macro window could cause an Enforcer hit when closed. - The program would not load keymap files. - The `Backup configuration' switch would be checked only if the phonebook entry which would replace the main settings had it set. The behaviour has been changed: now it's the main configuration which is checked. - xprkermit.library v1.111 has been fixed to work correctly with the xpr interface. Documentation: -------------- - The entire documentation has been rewritten in TeXInfo format which makes it possible to generate different documentation file formats: plain ASCII text, TeXInfo hypertext, AmigaGuide, TeX-DVI and Postscript.
