Notice to Users of bBaseII - Version 5.3 ======================================== There is an unfortunate bug in bBaseII Version 5.3, which was released on Fred Fish Disk 609. This bug may cause the program to terminate when a new database is being created, AND the default value of 9 fields is accepted. This is entirely due to an oversight on my part. If this problem is encountered, there are 2 possible solutions: 1. Delete the "9" value with the backspace key, and re-enter the desired number of fields. A "9" may be re-entered, if desired. 2. Use Version 5.31 or subsequent, which has the bug corrected. Also, I have noticed that attempting to utilize the "-f" switch when starting bBase will quite often generate an "Illegal Function Call" error. This problem was also solved in V5.31, but at a price. It is now necessary to append an "!" to the end of the filename, ie. Run bBaseII -fDF0:Files/Recipes! I recognize that this is rather chintzy, but I personally like this feature, and it was the only way I could find to make it work reliably. My apologies if this has created any problems for anyone. __ /_/ __ /_ _ /_/ /_/ /_/ _
