PC-Task V1.04 © 1992 Chris hames. All rights reserved. ------------------------------------------------------ Even though the Amiga range of computers are excellent, the world pc market is still dominated by IBM PC's. So you might want to run some programs written for the IBM PC but don't want to buy another computer. This is where PC-Task comes in, it allows you to run the majority of IBM PC programs on your Amiga computer and hence make use of the memory and peripherals you already have. The speed of PC-Task is directly related to the speed of you Amiga so when you make your Amiga faster your PC emulation becomes faster. No extra hardware is required, and PC-Task multitasks so you can continue to run other applications. This is the Demo version of the program. Many features are disabled but you can boot and run software. Getting started with demo version:- 1. If you have Kickstart 1.2/1.3 run the TDPatch1213 program. 2. Run PC-TaskDemo. 3. Insert a bootable 3.5 DSDD 720K MS-DOS disk into DF0:. 4. Press the start button. PC-Task should now start booting into a IBM-PC...... Specifying Hard Drives C and D:- PC-Task allows two types of entries for HardDrives. You can specify a HardDrive file if you have set up a HardDrive file (PC-Task HardDrive files are compatable with bridgeboard ones). Just give the file name and PC-Task will treat that file just like the bridgeboard would. PC-Task also accepts Amiga partitions as hard drives but due to MS-DOS restrictions these must be set up very carefully so don't try without the full manual file to PC-Task. If you have already set one up all you do is specify the partiton name(eg DH3:). If the entry for HardDrive C is bootable PC-Task will boot directly from that. Not getting enough memory for you PC, try the following:- 1. Run the LeaveSlowFast program. 2. Turn off "Use CGA". 3. Turn off "Use Parallel". 4. Lower the value of "Minimun Leave Available". 5. Format a Amiga disk and install it. Copy the PC-Task files to the disk. Create the file s/startup-sequence with only TDPatch1213 >NIL: PC-TaskDemo Slow operation:- If you want faster emulation turn off the "Use CGA" and you will be using MDA which doesn't have the colors and graphics but it is faster updating. If you have have only chip and slow fast memory this makes a big difference in general speed.
