FROM: Gregory Epley Second Sight DATE: June 1, 1991 RE: What Happened To ANSIEd? I am including this notice with NGTC in the hopes that this message will FINALLY reach the public. For some reason, despite three letters and two phone calls to Amazing Computing since May 29, 1990, this information never made it into print. Commodore Business Machines can only provide information or perhaps a demo of the product, not working copies, since they do not have one, and should not be listing the product in AC's Guide. Following is an exact copy of the statement I originally sent AC on May 29, 1990: Date: June 1, 1990 Re: Second Sight Changes This is to notify anyone interested of the change effective June 1, 1990 at Second Sight. I felt this response was necessary and sincerely hope it is sufficient. All software release notices before June 1, 1990 are now void and will not be recognized. This includes offers made on Fred Fish disks 50, 90, 221, 324, AMICUS 15, and any BBS or commercial service. This in no way means that I, nor the company name under which I operate, will no longer be associated with the Amiga. After carefully considering the advantages and disadvantages associated with this change I felt it best to pursue other areas on the Amiga. Software development will continue only as time and resources permit. Many of you requested information for the ANSI Editor ANSIEd from the listings in the Fall '89 and Winter '90 Product Guides. After responding to over half of these requests it was clear that interest was not sufficient to continue. I apologize to anyone who did not receive information and you should know that your requests were received. Anyone still interested in obtaining a fully working copy may do so by sending a blank 3.5" disk and a self-addressed stamped mailer or envelope to the address given in the guides. No payment or donations are necessary, however, if you would rather not send a disk and mailer send at least $2.00 to cover my expenses (make checks payable to Greg Epley in U.S. funds). Some operational problems may be encountered under the final 2.0 release depending on the level of 1.3 compatability retained. I have done you the courtesy of making a public statement. With that in mind I request that you please reciprocate by not spreading malicious information and refrain from jumping to conclusions based on insufficient knowledge of the situation. If you wish to make a statement address it to me in writing. To guarantee a reply enclose a SASE. Best regards, Gregory Epley President ADDENDUM: Since ANSIEd does not work under Release 2.0 of the Amiga OS, the above offer for a working copy is now null and void. I will not distribute anything with such limitations. There are many other such editors available for the Amiga now, all of which can be found on Fred Fish if one bothers to look. I will ignore any and all requests for ANSIEd from this time forward. I will destroy any checks or other payment I receive for ANSIEd without response unless a SASE or mailer is provided. I will not cause myself any further effort or expense regarding ANSIEd. I am sorry if this makes anyone mad, or changes their opinion of me, or whatever, but I did everything I felt I could do to avoid this, and must see this matter closed.
