01/09/90 This is MRBackup, a hard disk backup program for the Amiga. You are authorized to use and redistribute MRBackup. MRBackup may not be sold for profit, though reasonable duplication and distribution fees ($5.00 or less) may be charged. MRBackup is a shareware product. If you find MRBackup useful, a small contribution would be greatly appreciated ($5.00 is fine, $10.00 makes me smile and $20.00 inspires me to add features :-). Your comments and suggestions are also enthusiastically welcomed. Thanks. Enclosed with MRBackup is a copy of the ARP shared library, arp.library. MRBackup depends upon this library for much of its support, including the file requester, filename pattern matching, etc. Other ARP-based programs will share the code in this library with MRBackup, reducing memory demands on your system. ARP (Amiga Resource Project) is the creation of a team of programmers headed by Charlie Heath of MicroSmiths, Inc. and is distributed by MicroSmiths. Version 39.1 (1.3 distribution) is included in this release of MRBackup. If you have a more recent version, you will want to modify the included Install script to omit copying arp.library from this distribution. MRBackup is normally distributed as a Zoo archive. You are free to redistribute MRBackup though you may only charge a nominal handling fee ($5.00 or less) for doing so. I have received many phone calls from confused users who were missing one or more files in the distributions they downloaded from BBS's, commercial information systems, etc. If you redistribute MRBackup, the distribution MUST include the following files: MRBackup - The program MRBackup.info - Program icon MRBackup.TXT - Document (COPY MRBackup.TXT to prt:) MRBackup.init - Default preferences file MRBackup.xcld - Default exclude filter file MRBackup.cflt - Default compression filter file arp.library - The Amiga Resource Project shared library ReadMe - This file DISCLAIMER I will not be held financially responsible for damages or mental anguish incurred as a result of using MRBackup. Use it carefully and it will most likely serve you well. Before committing all of your files to an MRBackup save set, test drive it. See how it works with your installation. I know this is a radical thought, but you may even want to (begin super-liminal suggestion experiment) READ THE MANUAL (end super-liminal suggestion experiment). Though I do a certain amount of testing when adding new features, the tests are not exhaustive due to time constraints (I have a "real" job and a life beyond the Amiga - hard t' b'lieve!) and MRBackup's history includes a few dark moments. If you encounter problems, I am very responsive to feedback and will attempt to get an update to you promptly, when warranted. You can obtain the current version at any time by sending me a 3.5" diskette with a postage-paid, addressed return envelope or mailer or $2.00. If you want me to hold your request for the next update, specify this in your letter. Mark R. Rinfret 348 Indian Avenue Portsmouth, RI 02871 (401) 846-7639 (home) (401) 849-9390 (work) p.s. A non-overlayed version of this program, named MRBackup.no, is available from the author.
