Below is a copy of my email with Francois, clarifying the copy provisions. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- To: uiucuxc!estinc!fnf Subject: Re: az distribution restricted Date: Sun, 04 Jun 89 13:05:59 N You write me: [...] Unfortunately I must reject it because of the following statement in the doc file: I give you the authorization (and will be honored) to distribute AZ to everybody you know, but you must not receive money in return. AZ must be free. Since I do charge a distribution fee for distributing my disks, I cannot include this material until this restriction is lifted or until the author sends me a written exception to this policy with an explicit request that the material be included. After looking at it, I would have included it but for this restriction. I called the author this morning and that's what he decided: he does not want to lift the restrictions, because there are many so-called "PD distributors" in France that charge scandalous rates for their disks. However, he gives you explicit authorization for including AZ in your disk library. (I realize this is not a "written agreement", but I hope you trust me). This is, please include in the doc, just after the part you quoted above, the two following lines: Exception: I give the authorization to Fred Fish for including AZ in his "Fish disks" library for distribution. -- Francois rouaix@inria.inria.fr
