DCDemo is a demo version of DiskCat 2.3, a disk catalog program for the Amiga computer. As a demo, it is limited to catalogging 100 files at a time and may be freely distributed. DiskCat 2.3 is a commercial and greatly enhanced version of the DiskCat 1.0 which was originally released for free distribution in August of 1986. Enhancements found in version 2.3 include: 1) Faster sorts - version 2.3 sorts 20 to 30 times faster than the old version when sorting by filename or extension first. Sorts by disk are virtually intantaneous in version 2.3. 2) Categories - You can create categories of files and assign files to these categories. 3) Comments - You can create and edit comments concerning each file. 4) Pattern matching - You can search for and highlight all files which contain contain the same character strings in either their names or their comments section. 5) More effecient use of memory - a catalog requires 50 to 60% of the memory in version 2.3 compared to version 1.0. 6) More flexible display of disks and file information. 7) More flexible printout of a catalog - design your own table layout. A complete version of DiskCat 2.3 which will catalog upto 20000 files (providing enough memory is available) and with complete documentation can be purchased for $18 from : MicroAce Software 1577 Mendelssohn Drive Westlake, Ohio 44145 Attn. Ed Alford As a strong believer in independent user groups, I am proud to announce the availablility of user group distribution licenses. This license permits the user group or computer club to reproduce and distribute upto 25 copies of DiskCat for a cost of $150 ($6/copy). Rights to make additional copies beyond the first 25 are available at $5 for each additional copy. Ohio residents and users groups must add 6.5% sales tax.
