 HOW TO PLAY:

First you are presented with an options menu consisting of several
gadgets to enable/disable/select various game settings.
The following options are currently available:

ONE PLAYER/TWO PLAYERS - Quite obvious. This one toggles between one and
two player mode. Also toggles between one and two
player highscore lists (see below HIGHSCORES).

SOUND ON/SOUND OFF - If you can't stand the sound effects, simply chose
SOUND OFF. You could as well turn down your monitors
(or whatever you get your sound from) loudspeakers.
Doesn't affect gameplay in any way.

COLORS - Because the game features very detailed graphics
we decided to chose hires-interlace for displaying.
This, of course, results in awful flickering on
                         machines not equipped with anti-flicker-cards.
Therefore we designed some (in fact there are seven)
color palettes, which we think minimize flickering
to a great extend. With this button you can change
                         the palette to be used.

HIGSCORES - The highscore list for the currently selected game
mode (ONE or TWO PLAYERS) will be displayed.
Click anywhere in the window to leave.
The highscores will be saved when you leave the
game. By default, a file named THINKAMANIA.HIGH
will be created in your S: directory. You can
override this by copying that file to the current
directory; that is the directory you usually start
THINKAMANIA from. Since you can use full path names
this doesn't have to be the directory THINKAMANIA
itself resides in. The program is intelligent enough
to decide whether to save to S: or current directory.
By deleting THINKAMANIA.HIGH you can reset highscores.
Of course, the new list will be created in S:.

DEFAULT - The current settings will be reset to the defaults.
(ONE PLAYER, SOUND ON, OLIVE COLORS)

NEW - Starts a new game. If you interrupted a running game
(you can do this by hitting ESC) to change SOUND or
COLOR settings you can continue playing by hitting
ESC again. If you didn't interrupt any game ESC will
have the same effect as clicking on NEW.

QUIT - Leaves the game. The highscores are saved to
the S: or current directory depending on where they
were at game start (S: is the default if there is
no highscore list or if there is one in S: and one
in the current directory). The disk or harddisk
should be write enabled (otherwise you'll get a
                         system requester).

ESCAPE-KEY - As described above this key toggles between game
and menu without changing the current score.
If you change the game mode (ONE or TWO PLAYERS)
this will, of course, start a new game, because
                         continuing wouldn't make sense.

THE GAME'S PRINCIPLE:

By clicking on one of the 66 stones shown this stone turns around
and its image will be shown. Only two stones can and have to be turned
on every draw. If both stones show the same image the current players
score will be increased (current player's score appears in orange
printing) and the stones disappear with the next click. Otherwise the
draws counter will be increased.
One player continues until he picks two stones whose images don't match.
If there are no stones left the game is finished and you are, if you
were good enough, presented with the highscore requester. Here you can
type in your name. If no player has qualified for the highscore list
no requester will show up and the game continues with the menu screen.

INSTALLATION:

To install THINKAMANIA on floppy or harddisk systems simply copy
THINKAMANIA and its icon if you are running from WorkBench to whatever
directory you like.
The highscore list will be created as S:THINKAMANIA.HIGH the first time
you run the program (you have to quit it afterwards, of course).
