Feel free to send comments, requests, bug reports and beer as well! ------------------------------------ The public domain program Brush2Icon has been included in this package to make the set complete. It came from the AMICUS disk #9. ------------------------------------ Contents: compcmap - compares colour palettes of a pair of IFF pictures. filter - filters an IFF picture in various ways. hist - produces a colour usage frequency chart for an IFF picture. iconize - reduces the size of an IFF picture. icons - sample icons, for all the pictures on the Fish Disks produced with these tools. itb - converts icons to IFF pictures (icon to brush). recolor - recolors an IFF picture using the palette of a second picture in a least squared error fashion. Overview: The idea behind this package is to give the CLI oriented Amiga user a set of tools for manipulating various IFF picture files. This release supports all formats and resolutions except for HAM mode. Some of the things that this package allows you to do are to: - do some "kernel" based image processing (like the BYTE March 1987 article) - reduce the size of a picture in an antialiased fashion. - reduce the number of colours (bit planes) in a picture. - change the colour palette of a picture, with minimum effect on the appearance of the picture - convert a WorkBench icon into IFF picture files (brushes). By combining the tools in this package you can easily make custom icons for picture files, where the icons are miniture versions of the pictures! Anyway, have fun and produce lots of neat new icons for the Amiga! Stephen Vermeulen AMUC Chairman.
