NorthC Version 1.2 September 1990 (c) 1990 S.Hawtin. NorthC by Steve Hawtin Welcome to NorthC Version 1.2, this is the latest version of NorthC, a complete public domain 'C' environment for the Amiga. NorthC 1.2 has been released as a two disk set, this disk "NorthC" contains all the programs and data required to compile and link 'C' programs, the other disk called "NorthC Examples" contains the source code for some exaple programs. You are allowed to copy NorthC and distribute copies, provided you charge no more than a reasonable copy fee. However there are restrictions about copying individual files from the disks, for example ":bin/Blink", ":bin/A68K" and ":libs/libc.a", see the appropriate documentation files for details. All the files and programs that I own the copyright on are released as CharityWare, if you find them useful you should donate $25 (US) or £15 (sterling) to the national Spastics charity in your country. I have attempted to create two floppies containing everything you will need to start programming in 'C', if you wish to make personal copies of the programs in NorthC you are welcome to play with them. If you are passing on any of this software please make complete copies of both floppies, even if you know enough about 'C' to not require all the examples and documentation someone further down the chain might not be so clever. **** NOTE **** If you change the name of this disk from "NorthC" you must edit the file "setup-NorthC" to assign the name "NorthC:" to the correct directory. **** NOTE **** It is my understanding that all the data and programs on this disk can be freely copied, provided the restrictions noted in the various documentation files are observed. You use the information and programs on this disk at your own risk, neither myself or any other member of Alcibiades Cabal accepts any responsibility for any damage caused as a result of using this disk. In order to make full use of 'C' on the Amiga, and to allow you to compile some of the example programs you will require the "include" files from Commodore. In the UK these can be obtained by contacting Commodore in Maidenhead and asking to become a "registered developer". In the USA the include files are available from Commodore for a nominal $20 fee, you should write to: Commodore Business Machines Software Department 1200 Wilson Drive West Chester, PA 19380 and ask for the "AmigaDos 1.3 Native Developer Upgrade". In other countries you will have to find out for yourself. This package contains more than just the include files, and I have been told that it is well worth the money. If you have any comments, flames, bug reports or ideas for future NorthC developments write to me at, S.Hawtin, 54 Gloucester Drive, Basingstoke, Hampshire, RG22 4PH, U.K. If you want me to reply then please enclose a stamped self addressed envelope, I cannot afford to pay for postage to everyone who writes in. I would be most pleased to hear from you if you have any NorthC example programs, I would really like to see them. If you send examples to me please tell me if I can include the programs in future releases of NorthC.
