Disk No: 2018 Disk Title: LHarc and Utils, TinyProg, & CNVRT PC-SIG Version: S2.13 Program Title: LHarc & Utilities Author Version: 2.13 Author Registration: Zipnote $10 , Mad $5 , other programs - no fee. Special Requirements: None. This collection of archive utilities can make you the tightest, most effective archiver on the block. LHARC compresses more tightly than other compression programs. It takes a little longer -- but there are times when space is more important than speed. 2LZH converts ARC, PKARC, and ZIP files to LHARC format. LHDIR is a companion program to view and identify compressed LHARC files and self- extracting LHARC. And if LHARC isn't all you need, the utility MAD (Mike's Archive Directory) can show you the contents of every popular archive-type available and their self-extracting executable (SFX) files. MAD currently supports ARC, PAK, ZIP, ZOO, LZS, DWC and LZH archives and all self-extracting .COM and .EXE files created by SEA ARC, PK-ARC, PAK, PK- ZIP, SEZ (zoo), LARC (lzs), DWC and LHARC (lzh). ZIPNOTE rounds out the collection; it lets you attach comments to ZIP files. The utility is especially useful for BBS sysops who want to mark ZIP files for free advertising. ZIPNOTE's flexibility allows a comment to be typed from the keyboard, copied from an existing text file, or stored in a configuration file. Program Title: TinyProg Author Version: 3.0 Author Registration: $15.00 Special Requirements: None. If you need more hard drive or floppy disk space (and who doesn't?), TINYPROG could be your disk space miser. TINYPROG compresses .EXE and .COM program files by as much as 30%. Compress the file once and forget about it. When you run the compressed file, it decompresses and starts right up. TINYPROG has command line option features for the programmer in all of us, like the /u option that allows you to put a personal message at the beginning of your favorite program. As a safety feature, TINYPROG makes a backup copy of your original .EXE or .COM file. Program Title: CNVRT Author Version: 1.0 Author Registration: $10 Special Requirements: None. CNVRT automates the process of converting archived files from one archiving method to another. CNVRT supports ARC, ZIP, LZH, and ZOO archiving methods. CNVRT can operate in two different modes. In the Command Line mode, convert a single file or all files in a directory from one archiving method to another. In the Pick List mode, select files to be converted from a list by marking them. CNVRT manages the conversion process, but does not actually perform unarchiving or rearchiving functions. CNVRT follows the same process you would be likely to use to accomplish the same task manually. For example, if you want to convert an ARC file to an LZH file, CNVRT creates a temporary directory, invokes PKXARC.EXE to unarchive the file to the temporary directory, invokes LHARC.EXE to rearchive the file, copies the new LZH file back to the original directory, and finally erases the original ARC file and removes the temporary directory. CNVRT does not erase the original ARC file until it has confirmed that the new LZH file has been created and copied to the original directory. You will need the following additional archiver/unarchiver programs; PKARC.EXE, PKZIP.EXE, PKXARC.EXE, PKUNZIP.EXE, PAK.EXE, LHARC.EXE, and ZOO.EXE.
