tv set requires the viewer to be
at  least  40" away and a larger
set requires more distance. Kids
love to watch  the  cartoons  up
real  close,  but that should be
discouraged.

*    There    are   some   other
radiations as well, but so  far,
most   scientists   think  these
other energies have a negligible
impact on  health.   Inside  the
picture  tube  is quite a bit of
X-ray radiation, but most of  it
is  contained  within the glass.

The ultraviolet that some people
worry about is very small.

* Laptop computers do  not  have
flyback coils, the source of the
ELF,   but   some   do   have  a
transformer to step  up  voltage
for   fluorescent  backlighting.
This is probably much safer than
sitting   too   close    to    a
conventional monitor.

*  The  characters on a computer
screen  seem  quite  similar  to
those  on  a  printed  page, but
