Borland ships update to the Visual Solutions Pack

Borland is now shipping an update to the Visual Solutions Pack.
The Borland Visual Solutions Pack 1.1 brings a suite of
powerful, pre-built application components to the developer's
tool set. This update features two new controls which replace
less functional controls in the previous release, much improved
hard copy documentation, more extensive examples for all
supported programming languages, and better on-line
documentation. Here's a quick look:

New Controls

Formula One Spreadsheet Control. The Formula One Spreadsheet
Control is sophisticated spreadsheet control that can read and
write Excel files. The Formula One control supports spreadsheets
of any size and offers full customization of each cell. There
are also 126 common spreadsheet functions built in so users can
create complex expressions.

TX Text Control. The TX Text Control is a full featured WYSIWYG
word processing control that can read and write Rich Text Format
(RTF) files. The TX Text Control supports multiple fonts,
styles, and colors. The control is easily customized to use a
button bar, status bar, and ruler. Combined, the four controls
provide over one hundred properties. Properties can be used to
set characteristics such as font selection, style and color, and
page margins

Updated Integra VBX Database Control. The Integra VBX Database
Control has been updated to include a more powerful Visual Query
Builder and also includes a masked edit control. The masked edit
control allows a developer to specify a picture mask that any
data input must conform to.

Improved Documentation

Product Specific User's Guides. The Borland Visual Solutions
Pack contains individual User's Guides for each Borland product
that supports VBX controls. Currently, this list includes
Borland C++ and Borland dBASE for Windows. The User's Guides
include all the information necessary to quickly start using the
controls included in the Visual Solutions Pack. To help
developers get started, the User's Guides contain a tutorial
that gives step by step instructions for creating a sample
application.

Language Independent Reference Guide. The Borland Visual
Solutions Pack contains a completely rewritten Reference Guide.
The Reference Guide is now language independent making it the
perfect resource for C++, dBASE, and Visual Basic developers.
The Reference Guide is more comprehensive and easier to use. It
now contains an index to greatly ease in looking up information.
Further, any errors and omissions have been corrected and
additional information added.

More Examples for C++, Visual Basic, and dBASE examples. The
Borland Visual Solutions Pack contains many more examples. These
examples cover all development environments from which VBX
controls can be used. This includes Borland C++, Borland dBASE
for Windows, and Microsoft Visual Basic.

Extensive On-line Help
Improved Help File documentation. The on-line documentation
included with the Borland Visual Solutions Pack has been
dramatically improved. A help file has been included for every
control in the package. This provides easy access to reference
material during application development.
