TruScan 500/TruScan 800: Fastest, Most Accurate Large Document Scanning
Systems in the under $25,000 Class.

February 15, 1994 -- Herndon, VA: A precise drive mechanism, developed by
Vidar Systems Corporation for the TruScan 500 and TruScan 800 Scanning
Systems, handles documents from A to E-size with + 0.1% accuracy.

The new drive mechanism comprises a pair of steel shafted rollers and
thirty-six independently sprung compression wheels. This unique new roller
system has several important advantages. First, accuracy is better than +
0.1 %, which makes TruScan the most accurate scanner in its class. Second,
the mechanism handles all types of media reliably, including paper,
vellum, linen, index board, and Mylar, without slipping.

The paper drive system employs a straight paper path. This ensures proper
feeding of all documents, including rigid materials such as index board.
Designed for high productivity, the TruScan 800 scans a typical E-size
drawing at 200 dpi in as little as 44 seconds.

The TruScan 500 (500 dpi resolution) is priced at $8,995, and the TruScan
800 (800 dpi resolution) is $14,500. Both prices include MS-Windows
scanner control software. Unix software is also available for the TruScan
800 on the following platforms: IBM RISC 6000, Sun (Solaris 1 and Solaris
2) and Hewlett Packard.

TruScan scanners are the latest products designed and engineered in the
U.S.A. by Vidar Systems Corporation, manufacturer of over 50% of all large
document scanners sold worldwide for architectural, engineering, and GIS
applications.
