MicroSim's Design Center Joins with Cadence's Design Framework II

April 1, 1994 -- (Irvine, CA) MicroSim is pleased to announce that their
Design Center is now fully integrated into Cadence Design Systems' Design
Framework II, providing a complete analog, digital, and mixed-signal
circuit design environment for Sun SPARCstation users. As such, the Design
Center can be utilized within the Analog Artist design flow. Thus, designs
entered in the Composer schematic editor can be simulated using PSpice or
PSpice A/D with results graphically analyzed using Probe. Stimulus editing
with the Stimulus Editor and semiconductor device characterization using
Parts are also easily accessible from the Analog Artist environment.

The Analog Artist user interface has been augmented to fully support all of
the Design Center features, including digital simulation and analysis.
Cross-probing is also supported. Thus, nets and pins can be selected in
the schematic to trigger automatic display of the corresponding waveform
results in Probe. In addition, cross-probing can be used in a real-time
mode whereby waveform results are displayed as the simulation proceeds
(also known as Marching Waveforms). There is also the choice of running
simulations locally or on a remote workstation.

As an integrated Cadence Connections Partner application, PSpice and PSpice
A/D receive information from Cadence's central design database using an
enhanced SPICE socket interface. Either hierarchical or flat PSpice
netlists are automatically generated for input to the simulator. The net
names used in the schematic are preserved in the netlist. Thus, waveforms
displayed in Probe can be easily identified. Models that have already been
developed for other Cadence simulators, and that are SPICE2G.6 compatible,
can also be used with PSpice or PSpice A/D.

Cadence Integration protects the engineer's EDA investment in both Cadence
and MicroSim products by providing Design Center functionality while
continuing to build on their existing work within the Cadence environment.
The Cadence Integration product sells for $4,950 domestically and $6,450
internationally.
