AUDIOFILE ANNOUNCES LICENSE TO IBM

TalkWorks Will Be Included With Mwave Products

April 13, 1994 -- LEXINGTON, MASSACHUSETTS--AudioFile announced today that
IBM is licensing the company's TalkWorks software. Marketed under the name
TalkWorks for Mwave, the new offering combines the premier Windows voice
messaging system with IBM's market leading Mwave digital signal processor
(DSP).

TalkWorks gives users the ability to record, playback and edit voice
messages in Windows applications, employing state-of-the-art audio
processing techniques. The Mwave platform offers board and system OEMs the
ability to create advanced multimedia products including audio, voice, fax
and modem capabilities.

According to Dave McLean, manager, Mwave marketing and business development
for IBM Microelectronics, "TalkWorks highlights the powerful audio
capabilities of the Mwave."

TalkWorks to take advantage of the functionality of the DSP. End users
will benefit from unparalleled performance for voice messaging."

TalkWorks for Mwave includes both AudioRecorder, an OLE server for
recording, embedding, and playing of audio, and AudioEditor, adding high
performance editing of both compressed and uncompressed digital audio
files. Audio compression packaged with TalkWorks for Mwave includes
Microsoft ADPCM, IMA ADPCM, and a very high quality AudioFile 10:1
compression based on the European GSM mobile telephony standard.
