U.S. ROBOTICS WINS THREE MILLENNIUM AWARDS INCLUDING BEST VENDOR AT
RETAILVISION SPRING '96

SKOKIE, Ill. -- April 30, 1996 -- U.S. Robotics (NASDAQ: USRX) announced it
won three Millennium Awards at RetailVision Spring '96, an annual
conference of technology industry leaders representing 99 percent of the
retail channel and 225 technology companies. The Millennium Awards are the
technology industry's only awards determined by retailers' and exemplify
the best products and overall marketing programs in the industry. 

U.S. Robotics received: 

* Best Vendor RetailVision Spring '96 Award for its products and channel
marketing programs.

* Best Product Hardware RetailVision Spring '96 Award for Pilot, a handheld
electronic connected organizer.

* Product Excellence Award, Accessories and Peripherals Category, for
Sportster V.34 Faxmodem.

solutions -- products that extend information access from desktops and
laptops to shirt pockets," said Casey Cowell, U.S. Robotics chairman,
president and CEO. "We occupy an extremely strong position in the

U.S. Robotics also was nominated for the Best Retail Strategy RetailVision
Spring '96 Award for its achievement in bringing to the retail market
innovative products from three divisions: Personal Communications Division
(Sportster modems) and its Telephony business unit (Performance
Telephones) Mobile Communications Division (Megahertz portable modems) and
Palm Computing Division (Pilot). 

Technology retail executives selected nominees prior to the event. At
RetailVision, retailers chose the award winners, based in part on feedback
from their sales people throughout the U.S. and Canada. KPMG Peat Marwick
reviewed the awards. 

U.S. Robotics will showcase its award-winning information access products
-- Sportster modems, Pilot, ConferenceLink and other Performance
Telephones -- to the retail trade at the Consumer Electronics Show in
Orlando, Fla.. May 23-25, Booth 1127.
