SOURCECRAFT DELIVERS FIRST COMPLETE SET OF INTRANET DEVELOPMENT TOOLS

New Intranet tools use Java, HTML, HTTP and other Internet standards to
enable developers to reuse existing desktop components such as
spreadsheets and databases in the design of corporate nets

BURLINGTON, MA, MAY 6, 1996 - SourceCraft, Inc., a leading supplier of
Intranet development tools, today announced the availability of two new
products designed to revolutionize how corporate developers approach and
build both client and server applications for Intranets.

ObjectCraft 2.0 is an Intranet development environment that produces
applications for both Object Linking and Embedding (OLE) and Hypertext
Transfer Protocol (HTTP) servers; NetCraft is a visual development
environment that produces standard Java code. Together the products
provide corporate developers with a drag-and-drop interface for building
distributed applications, allowing programmers to construct reusable
Intranet and World Wide Web applications, while leveraging existing
investments in OLE, Hypertext Markup Language (HTML), and database content
in traditional client/server systems.

"Intranets offer the best platform for developing truly distributed
applications. Existing client/server tools have proved too expensive, too
heavy and too difficult to use for most corporations. To capitalize on
Intranets, corporations need to reuse data from a variety of different
desktops, databases, and applications," said William Blundon, president
and chief operating officer of SourceCraft, Inc. "Our products enable
today's corporate developers to easily assemble this software content into
scaleable Intranet applications that make the promise of distributed
computing a reality."

ObjectCraft 2.0: Drag-and-Drop Assembly of Intranet Applications

ObjectCraft 2.0 includes a visual development environment for building new
applications written specifically for Intranets. The ObjectCraft
environment includes tools to build Intranet installations, HTTP servers,
and browser-visible clients.

ObjectCraft 2.0 allows corporate developers within an organization to
build, maintain, and optimize active Intranet or Internet Web sites,
without needing to be experts in complex technologies like CGI, Perl, and
HTML. ObjectCraft allows developers to reuse existing Windows components
to assemble applications that run over the Internet or on an
enterprise-wide Intranet system.

ObjectCraft 2.0 allows developers to create a catalog of reusable
components from existing desktop and Internet content. Components can
include HTML documents, database forms, animations, images, maps, and
external URLs. Components can easily be integrated into an Intranet site
by dragging them into an assembly space. Changes can be made easily to any
component by accessing the tool that originally created it via OLE in
place activation.

The result is not just a static HTML document, but an active application
that can execute in an integral interpreter or can be compiled.
ObjectCraft applications can be linked to any ISAPI or NSAPI Internet
Server. When such servers are not available, ObjectCraft dynamically
creates a standard HTTP server for use in a network or in a standalone
configuration. Upon execution of the program, all content is immediately
visible by any standard Web browser.

ObjectCraft lets users create Web server applications by incorporating
Dynamic Link Libraries (DLLs) and OLE on the server. Users can create
their own DLLs or use the pre-packaged DLLs included with ObjectCraft 2.0
to create their Web applications. ObjectCraft is object-oriented, and can
incorporate all kinds of objects, from standard HTML text and images to
OLE objects and ODBC databases.

ObjectCraft includes a methods editor, menu builder, forms builder, content
catalog, assembly interface, interpreter, Basic Script-compatible
programming language, and a code generator and debugger.

NetCraft: Visual Development for Java Applications

The company's NetCraft application development tool allows users to easily
develop Java client applications on a PC running Windows. NetCraft
generates Java source code, which is optimized for building platform
independent Intranet applications that can be deployed throughout an
enterprise.

NetCraft includes a class inspector, forms builder, menu builder, and
methods editor as well as a code generator and debugger for Java. The
product allows programmers to move easily between a Windows development
environment and popular Web browsers.

Smooth Transition for Traditional Client/Server Developers

"For us to truly benefit from Java, Intranets, and the World Wide Web, we
need development tools, that don't require significant ramp-up or
retraining for our current developers," said Alan Nugent, executive vice
president, global strategy and advanced technology division, Xerox Corp.
"The ObjectCraft and NetCraft products from SourceCraft allow us to
capitalize on the economic advantages of this new shift in computing, by
providing a balanced suite of tools that are not only easy to use, but
empower our developers to build robust, distributed, platform-independent
applications for our Intranet, without having to deal with complex
scripting languages, such as CGI and Perl. "

"SourceCraft is taking dead-aim at the growing market of corporate
developers who want to build Intranet applications for both clients and
servers," said David Kelly, senior analyst, Hurwitz Consulting Group.
"Rather than repackaging their client/server products, SourceCraft has
created a new category for themselves by focusing on the requirements for
building applications specifically for Intranets. The company's NetCraft
product for building Java client applications and ObjectCraft product for
building HTTP server applications provide corporations with a compelling
set of solutions."

System Requirements

ObjectCraft and NetCraft will initially be available for the Microsoft
Windows, Windows NT and Windows 95 platforms. Both products are available
in English and Japanese versions and require a 486 or Pentium system with
at least 16MB of memory.

Pricing and Availability

ObjectCraft 2.0 for Server will be available June 1, 1996 for $1,995 per
copy. NetCraft can be downloaded now from SourceCraft Inc.'s home page on
the World Wide Web at http://www.sourcecraft.com and is available free of
charge.
