SQA, Inc. Announces SQA Suite 5, Industry's First Testing Solution for
Windows NT and Windows 95 with a Scaleable, Client/Server Test Repository

Provides Integrated Suite for Testing Cross-Windows Client/Server
Applications; Offers Industry's Most Comprehensive Object Testing of 32-
and 16-bit Components Including ActiveX Controls, OCXs, Win32 Controls,
VBXs, and PowerBuilder Objects

WOBURN, MASS. - MAY 28, 1996 - SQA, INC. (NASDAQ: SQAX), the leader in
automated testing of Windows client/server applications, today announced
SQA Suite 5, the industry's first testing solution for Windows NT and
Windows 95 that includes a scaleable, client/server test repository. In
addition, SQA Suite 5 has extended its Object Testing technology to now
test 32-bit components such as ActiveX controls, OLE Controls (OCXs),
Win32 controls, and 32-bit PowerBuilder objects. With SQA Suite 5,
organizations can address the entire testing lifecycle of their Windows NT
and Windows 95 client/server applications, including test planning and
design, development and execution, and defect tracking and reporting.

SQA Suite 5 is comprised of three leading-edge products from SQA -- SQA
Robot 5, SQA Manager 5, and SQA LoadTest 5 -- and is based on the
industry's only formal test methodology -- SQA Process -- to deliver a
single, integrated solution for testing cross-Windows client/server
applications. All of the products in SQA Suite 5 have been completely
implemented as 32-bit applications on Windows NT and Windows 95 to take
full advantage of these advanced Microsoft operating systems.

"SQA Suite 5 is the most comprehensive, state-of-the-art automated testing
solution for Windows NT and Windows 95, and with it SQA has again raised
the standard for Windows client/server testing," said Ron Nordin,
president and CEO of SQA. "SQA Suite 5 is the first full suite of 32-bit
test tools for the Windows NT and Windows 95 platforms. We've expanded our
Object Testing to test new objects, including 32- and 16-bit OCXs and
ActiveX controls. We've delivered the industry's most advanced
object-level integration with the 32-bit versions of PowerBuilder, Visual
Basic, and Centura. And we're offering the industry's only scaleable test
repository built on an industrial-strength, client/server database. SQA
Suite 5 represents a major step forward for SQA and the client/server
testing industry."

Major new features of SQA Suite 5 include:

* the ability to record or program test scripts against 32- and 16-bit
applications on Windows NT and Windows 95 with a single 32-bit product,
making the architecture of the application transparent to the user and the
test script. This allows customers to use SQA Suite 5 to test any 32- or
16-bit application on Windows NT or Windows 95 with a single product.

* the ability to record and reuse test scripts across all versions of
Windows and 32- and 16-bit application architectures. A script recorded
with SQA Suite 5 on any version of Windows (Windows NT, Windows 95, or
Windows 3.x) can be replayed unmodified on the same application on any
other version of Windows. Additionally, a script recorded on the 32-bit
version of an application will playback on the 16-bit version of the
application, and vice-versa. This allows users to ensure the quality of
their applications in a mixed Windows environment as they incorporate
Windows NT and/or Windows 95 to their current Windows 3.x environments;

* the industry's only scaleable, integrated test repository built on a
client/server database that meets the performance and data integrity needs
of automated testing for mission-critical client/server applications
involving large numbers of testers, developers, or test scripts;

* support for testing 32- and 16-bit components including ActiveX controls,
OCXs, Win32 controls, Visual Basic Controls (VBXs), PowerBuilder, and
Centura objects, providing users with one solution for comprehensive
testing of industry-leading object technologies.

"Our research is showing an increase in the adoption of Windows NT. As
such, organizations will require an automated testing solution that
addresses the complexity of this 32-bit environment," said Richard Heiman,
senior research analyst at IDC. "As the adoption rate increases, the
testing solution will need to be scaleable enough to meet the performance
and data integrity requirements involving large numbers of users, testers
and developers. SQA is providing a means where organizations can implement
an efficient and sophisticated testing solution for Windows NT."

"SQA Suite 5's expanded repository capabilities allow us to continually
implement the most stringent testing procedures possible. This assures our
customers will receive the most stable and effective solutions that fully
utilize the 32-bit Windows environment," said Tim Gerrells, quality
assurance test engineer, Geosciences Group, Geographix, Inc.
"Additionally, the cross-Windows capabilities enable us to leverage our
testing procedures across all Windows platforms. We can ensure that our
applications consistently function across all Windows versions. This gives
us far greater efficiency and increases the coverage of our testing
process."

SQA Suite 5 Major Differentiators

SQA SUITE 5 OFFERS A HOST OF NEW FEATURES THAT HELP USERS IMPROVE THE
QUALITY OF THEIR CROSS-WINDOWS CLIENT/SERVER APPLICATIONS, INCLUDING:

ONE SEAMLESSLY-INTEGRATED SUITE FOR TESTING CROSS-WINDOWS CLIENT/SERVER
APPLICATIONS

SQA Suite 5 offers a comprehensive solution needed to test client/server
applications on Windows NT, Windows 95, and Windows 3.x. Customers can use
SQA Suite 5 to automate the testing of applications built on any version
of Windows and deployed on any other.

Tests scripts recorded in SQA Suite 5 are portable across 16- and 32-bit
applications on Windows NT, Windows 95, and Windows 3.x. SQA's
Object-Oriented Recording and SmartMatching technologies provide a
reliable, low-maintenance solution that automatically adjusts to changes
in an application's objects and windows. For example, SQA's Smart Matching
technology automatically compensates for the different ways Windows NT,
Windows 95, and Windows 3.x display window captions, allowing a script
recorded on either of the operating systems to play back on any other
unmodified. This gives users the power they need to build, test, and
deploy applications in a cross- Windows environment.

THE ONLY TESTING SOLUTION WITH AN INDUSTRIAL-STRENGTH CLIENT/SERVER TEST
REPOSITORY

SQA Suite 5 is the only Windows client/server testing solution that
includes an industrial-strength, server-based client/server test
repository. The SQA Test Repository integrates the entire testing process
and all users of any SQA product on a local or wide area network.
Implementing the SQA Test Repository on an industrial-strength
client/server database provides the power, speed, and data integrity users
need to implement an enterprise-level client/server testing project. Based
on the Sybase SQL Anywhere scaleable database, the SQA Test Repository is
a full-featured client/server database that offers the full power of SQL,
portability, and a robust recovery architecture. No other testing
repository offers the power, performance, security, and integration of the
SQA Test Repository. In addition, SQA offers a repository implementation
option that uses the Microsoft Access database that is easy to install and
maintain for single-user or small workgroup implementations. Both
repository implementation options are included in every copy of SQA Suite
5 at no additional cost, and users can migrate or switch between either
version at any time.

SQA'S OBJECT TESTING TECHNOLOGY TESTS OLE CONTROLS AND OTHER OBJECTS ACROSS
ALL WINDOWS PLATFORMS

SQA's Object Testing technology goes beyond testing just an application's
graphical user interface (GUI). Object Testing inspects and verifies all
of the properties and attributes of the objects in a Windows client/server
application, including non-visible properties that cannot be tested
manually. Object Testing does not require programming - simply click on an
object and all of its properties are displayed and automatically
validated. For example, SQA Suite 5 can test the SQL call that a
data-bound OCX or a PowerBuilder DataWindow makes to a database, or the
formula used to calculate a computed field.

With version 5, SQA's Object Testing technology increases its lead in
object-level integration with the most comprehensive testing of 32- and
16- bit OCXs, ActiveX Controls, Win32 controls, VBXs, and custom objects
in PowerBuilder, Visual Basic, and other leading client/server Integrated
Development Environments (IDEs).

In addition, SQA Suite 5 sets a new standard for object-level integration
with today's most popular component based client/server development tools,
including the new 32-bit versions of Powersoft's PowerBuilder 5.0,
Microsoft Visual Basic 4.0, and Centura. If users are upgrading existing
PowerBuilder or Visual Basic applications to 32-bit, they need to ensure
the migration has not introduced new errors. Users can use existing test
scripts from SQA Suite 4.0 to test the 16-bit applications they migrate to
32-bit in Windows NT or Windows 95. Or, if they are creating new 32-bit
PowerBuilder, Visual Basic, or Centura applications, SQA Suite 5 lets
users test all of the hundreds of properties of OCXs, ActiveX Controls,
VBXs, Win32 controls and other objects.

"SQA's OLE-based testing architecture conforms to the Microsoft standard
for integrating with Visual Basic," said Jon Roskill, director of Visual
Basic marketing at Microsoft. "Visual Basic 4.0 uses OLE as a fundamental
part of its design, and SQA's solution takes advantage of the benefits
offered by OLE. SQA's testing solution implementation is elegant, clean,
and beneficial to Visual Basic users."

ONE SOLUTION FOR LOAD, STRESS, AND MULTI-USER TESTING ACROSS ALL WINDOWS
PLATFORMS

The SQA LoadTest product in SQA Suite is the fastest way to test Windows
NT, Windows 95, and Windows 3.x client/server applications under different
load, stress, and multi-user scenarios. From a single master station on
either Windows NT or Windows 95, users can load any server (i.e., UNIX,
NT, OS/2, and others) with transactions generated from multiple clients
running either Windows NT, Windows 95, or Windows 3.1 on a local or
wide-area network. In addition, SQA LoadTest includes the industry's only
integrated load testing solution that accumulates information in a
performance metrics database and offers a complete graphics analysis
package. SQA LoadTest is seamlessly integrated with the SQA Test
Repository and all of the products in SQA Suite 5.

SQA SUITE 5 IS AVAILABLE IMMEDIATELY for Windows NT and Windows 95; volume
upgrade shipments to the SQA user base begin in June. The products in SQA
Suite 5 can be purchased separately ($2,495 for a single user license of
SQA Robot 5; $1,295 for a single user license of SQA Manager 5, and SQA
LoadTest 5 ranges from $10,000 to $37,500) or in two bundled editions: SQA
Suite: TeamTest Edition for $2,995 per user, which includes SQA Robot and
SQA Manager; and SQA Suite: Client/Server Edition starting at $12,395,
