Among Newly Elected SPA Board Members

May 28, 1996 (Washington, D.C.) - Today the Software Publishers Association
(SPA) announced the results of its fiscal year 1997 board of directors
election. Eleven leading industry executives competed for six elected
spots on the board. SPA board members are elected by the vote of SPA's
full members and serve a two-year term.

Of six vacancies on the board, five board members were re-elected.
Re-elected for another term are J. Paul Grayson, founder, chairman & CEO,
Micrografx Inc.; Kathy Hurley senior vice president marketing & business
development, SkillsBank Corp.; Bill Goodhew, president, Peachtree
Software; Kirk Loevner, vice president/general manager, Silicon Graphics
Inc.; and Ron Fortune, president & CEO, Computer Curriculum Corp. Joining
the board for the first time is Cheryl Vedoe, president & CEO, Tenth
Planet Explorations Inc. SPA would also like to welcome this year's
appointed board members, Roberta Katz, general counsel, Netscape
Communications; Heidi Roizen, vice president developer relations, Apple
Computer; and Steve Schiro, vice president end user customer unit,
Microsoft Corp.

These board members will join returning board members Phil Adam, Interplay
Productions; Alan Gleicher, Intuit; Randy Komisar, Crystal Dynamics; John
Kunze, Adobe Systems; and Ken Wasch, SPA president.

"SPA has become the premiere representative body of the software industry,"
Roizen said. "After over a decade as CEO of my own software company and
now as vice president of developer relations at Apple, I recognize the
importance of our industry's ability to collaborate, coordinate and speak
with a single voice on issues of importance to the future. I'm excited
about helping SPA achieve its goals."

Meeting for the first time last week, SPA's fiscal year 1997 board elected
its officers. Bill Goodhew will serve as chairman of the board, Kirk
Loevner as vice chairman, Alan Gleicher as treasurer and Ron Fortune as
secretary.

SPA is the leading trade association of the desktop software industry,
representing the leading publishers as well as many start-up firms in the
business, consumer and education markets. Its 1,200 members account for 90
percent of the sales of the U.S. packaged software industry. SPA is an
international organization with offices both in the United States and
Europe.
