SoftArc Acquires Internet Research & Development Firm Delphic Software

MARKHAM, Ontario, April 29, 1996-SoftArc Inc., the number four vendor of
LAN-based e-mail and groupware worldwide, has completed the acquisition of
Redlands, California-based Internet developer Delphic Software
Incorporated.

Delphic is best known as a third-party developer of innovative Internet
products for SoftArc's award-winning groupware application FirstClass. The
company's products include ExpressNet/SMTP, an Internet messaging and news
gateway for FirstClass; and EnLink/Ghpher, EnLink/FTP and EnNet/PageNOW!,
a series of gateways connecting FirstClass to various Internet and pager
services.

"The incorporation of Delphic technology and personnel will significantly
strengthen SoftArc's Internet offerings," noted Scott Welch, SoftArc vice
president of corporate affairs. "Our goal is to fold more and more
enterprise communications standards and protocols directly into the
FirstClass server, and the addition of Delphic's expertise will enable us
to rapidly bring new Internet and Web-related technology to market."

the Company is working towards tight integration between FirstClass and
the Internet. Delphic's existing technology will be assimilated into
SoftArc's product family to help further this goal.

Under the deal, key Delphic personnel-including president and CEO Michael
Marshburn-will relocate to SoftArc's main facility in Canada and join the
SoftArc development team

Shipment of current Delphic products and development efforts for upcoming
versions are being discontinued, although SoftArc will assume complete
technical support for registered owners of shipping Delphic products,
effective immediately. Delphic customers who purchased the company's
ExpressNet/SMTP Internet gateway for FirstClass are being offered an
upgrade path to the recently announced FirstClass Gateway for SMTP/NNTP
