EXPERIENCE THE STRUGGLE FOR AIR SUPERIORITY OVER ENGLAND DURING THE BATTLE
OF BRITAIN AND EUROPE FROM 1943 TO 1945 IN EUROPEAN AIR WAR

MULTIPLAYER SIMULATION SOFTWARE CURRENTLY IN DEVELOPMENT

ELECTRONIC ENTERTAINMENT EXPO, LOS ANGELES, MAY 16, 1996 -- Spectrum
HoloByte, Inc. (Nasdaq: SBYT) announced today that its MicroProse studio
located in Hunt Valley, Md. is developing European Air War for the PC in
DOS format. The game will be developed under the MicroProse brand and
distributed worldwide.

Building on the engine from the award-winning 1942: The Pacific Air War',
European Air War provides thrilling local area network (LAN) and modem
play, but also improves on frame rate, graphics (32-bit code) and
artificial intelligence.

This highly anticipated flight sim gives enthusiasts the chance to fly a
number of planes for the American, British or German air forces. All of
the 20 flyable aircraft have authentic cockpit designs and accurate flight
models. Players can choose either single missions or career playthey can
take on historically accurate missions or just take to the skies for fast
dogfighting action. The single mission option allows players to control a
single plane or a group of planes against the computer-controlled aircraft
for a particular type of mission.

The career option lets players select a career from the British, American
or German perspective in 1943 or from the British or German perspective in
the Battle of Britain. A few of the tour phases include April 1, 1943 to
April 25, 1945 in which players encounter different types of missions and
July 10, 1940 to September 15, 1940 in which players experience a short
career from the Battle of Britain.

MicroProses virtual cockpit technology enables players to look for enemy
planes in any direction, just like a real pilot. The cinematic replay
editor lets users review their mission from anywhere in the game world.

At the conclusion of the mission, the player receives a mission debriefing,
which summarizes the missions results. The debriefing states the overall
success or failure of the mission and lists the individuals
accomplishments. The missions score is compared to the Single Mission Hall
of Fame to determine if the score warrants replacing one of the prior top
scores. The Hall of Fame is viewable from the main menu.

Rich historic background on the air war over Europe will be provided via a
multimedia presentation on the CD-ROM.
