THE DESTINY OF THE WORLD IS IN THE HANDS OF GAME PLAYERS EVERYWHERE WITH
MICROPROSES STRATEGY HIT SID MEIERS CIVILIZATION II

ELECTRONIC ENTERTAINMENT EXPO, LOS ANGELES, MAY 16, 1996 -- All critical
social, economic, military and political descisions are under the command
of computer game players worldwide since MicroProse Software released its
top-selling strategy game Sid Meiers Civilization II in March.

More exciting and challenging than the original, Sid Meiers Civilization II
is a sequel to one of the most acclaimed entertainment software strategy
games of all time, Sid Meiers Civilization', which has sold more than
850,000 copies worldwide on various platforms.

GAME CONCEPTS

Sid Meiers Civilization II allows players to be ruler of their own empires,
controlling every decision necessary to build the most powerful
civilization on the planet. Players can build societies based on the
principles of democracy or rule with an iron fist; they can bring glory
and power to their civilization by building incredible Wonders of the
World or put their people to work to develop the principles of law,
science and technology.

Players can also negotiate with historys most ingenious leaders and form
alliances with them or, on the contrary, command their military units to
wage war against them for the purpose of conquest.

As in the original Sid Meiers Civilization, the players ultimate goal in is
to be the first civilization to colonize space or conquer the world. Sid
Meiers Civilization II thrusts players into an active role in historys
greatest events.

Players can build their civilization from the ground up or take control
with a scenario straight out of the history books. A new map editor and
preset scenarios, including World War II and the Roman Empire, give
players an increased variety of customized options. Also, players can
download free additional scenarios from our World Wide Web site at
http://www.microprose.com.

Players can set the game to a difficulty level that best suits their level
of play, including the new Deity level that offers the greatest
challenge.

We have added a sixth level of difficulty, the deity level, because many
fans kept writing me letters stating they love the game but want something
more challenging than emperor level, said Sid Meier, creator of Sid Meiers
Civilization and vice president of creative development at the MicroProse
Software studio in Maryland.

Sid Meiers Civilization II builds on the foundation of the original Sid
Meiers Civilization, providing greater challenges along with the new
enhancements. Sid Meiers Civilization II improves gameplay with more
technology and units, better trade route and combat systems, a new
difficulty level, an expanded diplomatic system, all new player scenarios
taken right out of the annals of history, and beautifully rendered SVGA
graphics.

Sid Meiers Civilization II will appeal not only to thousands of fans of the
original game but also to millions of strategy gamers, said Brian
Reynolds, designer and programmer of Sid Meiers Civilization II at the
MicroProse Software studio in Maryland. We have incorporated peoples
suggestions dating back to 1991 so we could enhance this product and make
it the ultimate Sid Meiers Civilization and strategy gaming experience.

An enhanced multimedia version of the Sid Meiers Civilization II
encyclopedia, the Civilopedia, gives players a quick and easy reference
that is fun to use. High-resolution graphics, a more realistic isometric
view, and new map and icon designs give Sid Meiers Civilization II an
entirely new look.

This incredible sequel also features full-motion video that brings to life
28 Wonders of the World, including Leonardo da Vincis workshop, the Statue
of Liberty and many more.

The predecessor to Sid Meiers Civilization II, the innovative Sid Meiers
Civilization was released in 1991 and received several awards, including
Game of the Year in 1992 (Computer Gaming World) and Best Consumer
Entertainment Program in 1991 (Software Publishers Association).
