RSA Data Security Announces the Addition of NetCentric to Growing List of
Clients Using BSAFE Cryptography Engine

RSA Technology Enables Secure Communication Over the Internet

REDWOOD CITY, CALIF., MAY 22, 1996 -- RSA Data Security, Inc. today
announced that NetCentric Corporation, a provider of software for the
internet infrastructure, has incorporated the functionality of RSA's
encryption technology into its POPware technology, a new product category
that will enable millions of individuals and organizations to move
mainstream business communications, such as voice, fax and file management
services, to the Internet.

In addition, NetCentric's POPware provides an open platform for third-party
developers to deploy value-added network and communications services,
ranging from voice and fax communications to distributed database
applications.

"The Internet has opened the flood gates to innovative ideas for conducting
business and sharing information," said Jim Bidzos, president of RSA. "The
majority of the solutions on the Internet today require some form of
security to protect company trade secrets or individual privacy. RSA's
toolkit family enables developers to build that security into their
product's infrastructure."

By embedding RSA cryptography engines into the POPware Internet
infrastructure, NetCentric provides a reliable framework for corporations
to begin to augment and replace existing telephony and computer networks
with systems based on the Internet backbone.

"The public is worried about 'safe surfing' and safe data transmittal,"
said Sean O'Sullivan, president of NetCentric. "As mainstream commerce
migrates to the Internet, security and cryptography engines like RSA's
BSAFE play a pivotal role in the exploding growth of Internet usage."

NetCentric POPware will be rolled out throughout the Internet Service
Provider's point-of-presence (POP) networks using RSA's BSAFE product.
Initial deployment will begin this summer.

Developers at NetCentric used RSA's BSAFE and TIPEM software developers'
toolkits to build security into the company's POPware architecture. BSAFE
is the world's best-selling cryptographer's toolkit and provides software
developers with multiple algorithms and modules for adding encryption and
authentication features to any application. BSAFE includes modules for
popular encryption techniques, such as RSA, DES, RC2, and RC4, and also
supports digital signatures and certificates.
