Allied Telesyn Introduces New RMON Probe and Monitor

New RMON Product Line Offers High Performance at Half the Cost

BOTHELL, Wash, May 20, 1996 -- Allied Telesyn International today announced
the introduction of its new RMON product line, the AT-RMON probe and the
AT-View-RMON monitor. Together, the fully featured RMON probe and monitor
provide a complete RMON solution at a price point 70 percent less than
comparable products.

COMPLETE, ECONOMICAL LAN TROUBLESHOOTING

AT-RMON is an RFC-compliant, 10Mpbs Ethernet, RMON probe that collects
statistics and trend data needed to monitor remote LANs. The probe
supports all nine RMON groups, including Statistics, History, Alarms,
Hosts, Top N, Matrix, Filter, Capture, and Events and collects data at
full-line speed. This provides users with real-time diagnostic
information, even during heavy traffic periods. As a plug-in module, the
AT-RMON integrates with the Allied Telesyn TurboStack or 3600 series
chassis systems or with any other 10BASE Ethernet network via a
front-panel RJ-45 connector. AT-RMON will begin shipping in June 1996. It
has a list price of $1,495.

EASY RMON MANAGEMENT

AT-View-RMON is a UNIX-based, Motif-compliant RMON monitor program for
managing the AT-RMON or any other RFC-compliant Ethernet RMON probe. Its
easy-to-use, graphical interface presents each RMON group as a menu bar
entry, making it simple to master.

AT-View-RMON operates with all UNIX workstations including Sun, HP, and IBM
in either a standalone mode or automatically integrates with all the major
network management platforms. Management support is also available for
Windows-based systems. An optional component, AT-RMON-Decode provides a
color-coded, seven-layer protocol decode for deciphering captured data,
easing the interpretation of LAN traffic.

Both AT-View-RMON and AT-RMON-DECODE begin shipping in June 1996.
AT-View-RMON lists at $995 and AT-RMON-DECODE at $1,995.

"The benefits of RMON are academic if they are too expensive to deploy,"
said John Nevius, Group Manager. "With Allied Telesyn's AT-RMON and
AT-View-RMON, the power of RMON is now an affordable option for all
networks."
