INDUSTRY LEADER RACAL SUPPORTS VISA / MASTERCARD SECURE ELECTRONIC
TRANSACTIONS (SET) SPECIFICATION

April 17, 1996 -- SUNRISE, FL. -- Racal Data Group, an industry leader in
secure payment systems, today endorsed the combined VISA/Mastercard secure
electronic transaction (SET) proposal.

SET is a detailed description of how to secure bank card transactions over
the Internet. After Visa and MasterCard announced separate guidelines for
this standard last September, an effort was made to combine their ideas
into a workable single solution. Interested parties were asked to consider
the combined proposal.

"SET is a natural extension of our existing secure transaction products for
electronic funds transfers for point-of-sale and automated teller machine
(EFTPOS and ATM) applications," said Sandy Epstein, Racal's Senior
Director of Security Products. "The timing of the movement toward this
standard is ideal. Once SET is acknowledged as the standard, we will be
able to produce equipment that is interoperable and compatible across the
payments industry throughout the world.

"Racal is the second largest producer of secure payment systems in the U.S.
and the largest producer of those systems for the rest of the world,"
Epstein added. Racal products include a Host Security Module that is used
worldwide to authorize and process debit transactions. The SET standard
will allow Racal to add electronic commerce capabilities to its existing
and planned secure payments products.

While use of the Internet has experienced massive popular growth throughout
the world, the Internet's use as a sales instrument has been hampered by
concerns about the security of the electronic transactions. Efforts to
establish and confirm a security specification within electronic transfer
guidelines is seen as a major step forward in the commercial use of the
Internet.

With VISA, Mastercard and others endorsing the proposed SET standard, the
electronic commerce industry should be able to move forward quickly to
solve concern about security for Internet commerce. Vendors like Racal can
modify existing products and build new platforms with confidence that the
security standard is acceptable to all parties using Internet commerce.

Racal designs, manufactures and markets a broad line of secure data
communication solutions and is active in security standards-setting
organizations including the American National Standards Institute.
