QUALCOMM Announces Comprehensive Client/Server Strategy to Expand Eudora
Family

WORLDWIDE LEADER IN TCP/IP MESSAGING SOLUTIONS TO DELIVER COMMUNICATIONS
SERVER TECHNOLOGY FOR INTRANETS AND THE INTERNET

SAN JOSE - April 30, 1996 - QUALCOMM Incorporated (NASDAQ:QCOM), a leader
in wireless communications and advanced electronic messaging solutions for
the Internet, announced today at Internet World its intention to deliver
communications server products to compliment its award-winning Eudora
electronic mail software. QUALCOMM's server products will incorporate the
same flexibility, robustness, ease-of-use and performance that made Eudora
software the world's single most popular e-mail product line for the
Internet.

QUALCOMM expects to release its server products for the Windows NT, Windows
95 and UNIX platforms during the second half of 1996. The server products
will maintain QUALCOMM's commitment to industry standard protocols such as
SMTP and POP3. In addition, the company is also currently investigating
the adoption of other industry protocol standards such as IMAP and LDAP as
they continue to evolve. The use of industry standards will allow QUALCOMM
to provide a premium client/server messaging system for any size
organization. "Building a server solution is the next logical evolution of
our existing Eudora messaging software product line," said Craig Brenner,
group manager of worldwide marketing for the QUALCOMM Enterprise Software
Technologies Group. "We're taking a best-of-breed approach and are
committed to adhering to Internet standards, ease of integration,
cross-platform compatibility and affordability the same attributes that
made Eudora software number one in the TCP/IP/Internet client messaging
market."

The Eudora server products will be ideally suited for small to medium-sized
businesses which have been unable to easily and inexpensively add TCP/IP
messaging to their existing LAN for intranet or Internet communications.
In addition, the server products will not require full-scale replacement
of server hardware or the addition of expensive and complex gateways to
the Internet. The Eudora communications server strategy will also
incorporate advanced directory services capabilities. The Eudora server's
directory services will allow for powerful mail list management, directory
queries and the addition of new users to the mail system. The products'
directory services will support the CSO protocol (also known as Ph) to
ensure compatibility with industry and client requirements. Other
directory service protocols such as LDAP are also being considered for
future additions to the directory service offerings. These features allow
the Eudora server to scale from the smallest organization to departmental
communications in large companies.

"Efficient and inexpensive client/server mail connectivity has been almost
nonexistent for organizations with less than 100 people, especially when
Internet connectivity comes into play," said Brenner. "Now, our combined
solution will allow organizations to quickly and easily configure a
powerful Internet/intranet e-mail system without the need for expensive
gateways or time-consuming setup and maintenance. This new technology will
address the needs of the system administrator whether in a five person
start-up, or a large organization who is faced with the challenge of
balancing the cost of implementing e-mail with the need for a feature-rich
solution."

QUALCOMM"s award-winning Eudora Pro and Eudora Light software are
Internet-based e-mail packages that deliver exceptional levels of
functionality, ease-of-use and flexibility. Originally introduced in 1988,
Eudora is the world's most popular Internet e-mail software with an
estimated 10 million users worldwide. Available for the Microsoft Windows,
Macintosh and Newton platforms, the Eudora family of software products
delivers best-of-breed Internet e-mail capabilities. Eudora Pro software
offers a wide range of features including, built-in spell checking,
user-definable message filtering, native 32-bit support for the Microsoft
Windows 95 and Windows NT operating systems, support for long file names,
MAPI support, color-coded message labeling and "hot link" web page
capabilities allowing users to navigate the World Wide Web. For more
