POWERSOFT INTRODUCES INFOMAKER 5.0

Comprehensive Reporting and Data Analysis Tool Offers Rich Feature Set for
Client/Server and Data Warehousing Applications

CONCORD, MASS., MAY 6, 1996 -- Powersoft today introduced InfoMaker 5.0 for
Windows, a comprehensive reporting and data analysis tool designed to
leverage client/server and data warehousing applications. InfoMaker
enables users to quickly and intelligently access, report and analyze
information regardless of where it resides within a corporate
infrastructure. InfoMaker 5.0 is Windows 95 logo compliant, and adds
extended OLE 2.0 support, Sybase SQL Anywhere, Internet capabilities, two
new presentation styles and other features designed to improve user
productivity.

InfoMaker allows users to instantly access data and automatically generate
a wide range of reports using its prebuilt reporting styles, or build
professional looking forms for managing data, all without writing a single
line of code. It combines a graphical query engine, that supports
easy-to-use options, with a powerful report designer and a broad selection
of built-in styles to develop reports and forms.

InfoMaker's database drivers provide corporate-wide connectivity and
information access and includes support for a wide variety of DBMSs,
including expanded connectivity with new drivers for Oracle 7.1 NT and
Microsoft SQL Server 6.0. InfoMaker's powerful Data Pipeline capability
allows users to transfer data from one database format or location to
another. The Data Pipeline is ideal for database replication, warehousing
and migration by solving everyday problems such as moving a subset of data
to a laptop computer.

"With the proliferation of client/server computing and data warehousing
technology, our users are increasingly faced with the task of tracking
data from a number of resources within their companies," said David
Litwack, president of the Powersoft Business Group of Sybase, Inc.
"InfoMaker 5.0 arms power users and end users alike with a tool that
allows them to unlock this information and make intelligent business
decisions based on comprehensive analysis."

According to Sarah Ringle, assistant vice president at Alliance Capital
Management, "InfoMaker's support for stored procedures makes it much
easier to use than competing products and makes it simple to query
databases. The Data Pipeline is another great feature of InfoMaker -- it's
invaluable for moving data among different servers, allowing for a very
flexible environment."

Efficient Reporting and Data Analysis

InfoMaker 5.0 includes additions and enhancements that deliver high-
performance functionality. Significant new features include:

* Windows 95 Logo Compliant -- InfoMaker 5.0 offers 32-bit support,
allowing users to take full advantage of Windows 95 speed and user
interface enhancements. Users can deploy and share reports with a
consistent interface across all supported platforms.

* Extended OLE 2.0 Support -- Version 5.0 of InfoMaker offers OLE 2.0 In
Place Activation that lets users embed OLE 2.0-compatible applications in
reports. InfoMaker acts as an OLE 2.0 Server, permitting users to embed
InfoMaker reports in OLE 2.0-compliant applications, and also allows the
distribution of InfoMaker reports in e-mail-ready formats.

* Sybase SQL Anywhere -- InfoMaker 5.0 includes a standalone version of
Sybase SQL Anywhere, a full-featured, 32-bit relational database that lets
users get up and running without connecting to a back- end database.

* Internet Capabilities -- The latest version of InfoMaker enables users to
save their reports as HTML files that can be incorporated in any World
Wide Web page.

* New Presentation Styles -- InfoMaker 5.0 offers two new presentation
styles that increase an end-user's capabilities for formatting and
presenting data. The Rich Text Presentation Style allows users to edit and
format text directly within reports, load existing RTF files into reports
and create instant mail merges. The OLE 2.0-Presentation Style retrieves
data and places it directly into OLE 2.0-compliant applications, such as
Microsoft Excel, Word and Graph, for extended reporting capabilities.

In addition, InfoMaker 5.0 features an Install Builder that can create
professional install programs for end-users; an Art Gallery, with more
than 100 images for enhancing reports and forms; and electronic
documentation, including online help links to electronic books.
InfoMaker's enhanced built-in analysis features, such as Instant Totaling,
Computed Columns, Crosstab and Graph Builders, allow users to slice
through data to leverage corporate information.
