POWER COMPUTING SHIPS FASTEST MAC-OS SYSTEM AND VALUE-PRICED POWERPC 604
COMPUTERS

New Systems Offer Top Mac OS Value and Performance

(ROUND ROCK, Texas) April 29, 1996 - Power Computing Corporation, the first
and only vendor of personalized Mac-compatible systems and the original
Mac OS licensee, today announced two groundbreaking events for personal
computer users. The company unveiled two new Power Computing product lines
offering the highest levels of performance for any Mac OS-based computer
and the first sub-$2000 price point for a Mac OS system using the
mainstream PowerPC 604 processor.

PowerTower, Power Computing's new high end line, is the first family of
systems based on the new 180 MHz and 166 MHz PowerPC 604 processor
announced by International Business Machines today. These
custom-configurable systems are the fastest MacOS personal computers
available today. In parallel, the company announced its new midrange
family, the PowerCenter line, featuring three PowerPC 604 processor speeds
at 150 MHz, 132 MHz and 120 MHz.

"This announcement further demonstrates Power's commitment to making
personalized Mac OS systems even more affordable," said Steve Kahng,
president and CEO of Power Computing. "We are making innovative PowerPC
604 systems available to a wide spectrum of customers from the power user
to the cost-conscious." As with all Power Computing systems, these new
models can be custom configured so that users can select the features they
value by personalizing their computers to match their specific needs.

POWERTOWER EXCEEDS SPEED LIMITS

The new PowerTower 180 and PowerTower 166 are the first Mac-compatible
systems with clock rates above 150 MHz. Both systems are offered in a new
three PCI slot mini-tower design providing maximum expandability and
configuration flexibility. Base configurations include 16 MB of RAM, 2 GB
AV hard drive, 512K Level 2 cache, 2 MB VRAM, 4x CD-ROM, Mac 15-pin and
SVGA video connectors, 3 PCI expansion slots, built-in Ethernet (AAUI and
10BaseT), extended keyboard and mouse, and bundled software.

Power Computing was the first to offer Mac users 150 MHz performance - the
new PowerTower systems again lead the industry with the ultimate in Mac OS
performance at 180 MHz and 166 MHz. These systems are ideal for power
users and high-end graphics users running imaging and rendering
applications.

"IBM continues to push technology to the limit to achieve greater levels of
performance as demonstrated by the introduction of the 180 MHz PowerPC 604
microprocessor," said Fred Sporck, director of PowerPC, IBM
Microelectronics Division. "We are pleased to join Power Computing in
setting higher standards for personal computing."

POWERCENTER IS FIRST IN VALUE

The new PowerCenter family includes the most affordable PowerPC 604 systems
in the industry. Three models, the PowerCenter 150, 132 and 120, are
offered in a custom-configurable desktop enclosure, which can be tailored
to meet each user's needs. The PowerCenter 120 is also available in a
space-saving low profile design. Both PowerCenter 120 base models are
available for less than $2000.

All PowerCenters are equipped with three PCI expansion slots, 256K Level 2
Cache, onboard VRAM, 4x CD-ROM, Mac 15-pin and SVGA video connectors, 3
PCI expansion slots, built-in Ethernet (AAUI and 10 BaseT), extended
keyboard and mouse, and bundled software.

The exceptional value afforded by the PowerCenter line will benefit the
enterprise corporate user looking for increased speed and performance and
also offers the small office/home user an attractive Mac-compatible
alternative to Windows-based systems.
