PROXIM INTRODUCES NEW RANGELINK MULTIPOINT WIRELESS REMOTE BRIDGE

Most Affordable High-Speed Solution For Connecting Multiple LANs In Remote
Campus Locations

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CALIF., APRIL 29, 1996 -- Proxim, Inc., a leading supplier
of wireless data communications products, announced today a 2.4 GHz
frequency hopping multipoint wireless remote bridge. The new RangeLINK
Series 1500 multipoint bridge extends the point-to-point functionality of
Proxim's original RangeLINK product family by providing an affordable
wireless solution for interconnecting several buildings in a campus
setting with a central site.

Utilizing Proxim's unique frequency hopping spread spectrum radio
technology, as many as 15 separate network links can operate concurrently
in the same area without contending for the same radio frequencies, with
each link providing a maximum data rate of up to 1.6 Mbps. The result is
an aggregate scaleable network capacity of 24 Mbps, which gives network
administrators the flexibility to meet the bandwidth needs of different
network connections.

"Like the original RangeLINK products, the new RangeLINK Series 1500
provides an easy and inexpensive way to link LANs in separate buildings
when leased lines are too expensive and laying cable isn't feasible," said
Scott Lucas, RangeLINK product manager at Proxim. "But now, multiple
buildings in campus type settings like schools, hospitals and small office
parks can be connected quickly, easily and most importantly, affordably."

RangeLINK Series 1500 is installed by placing one wireless bridge on a
standard Ethernet network at a central site on a campus, and an additional
RangeLINK bridge at each building within the campus setting. Previously,
with a point-to-point product, multiple bridges would have to be installed
in the central site to support each of the interconnected buildings on the
campus, which results in a much higher cost.

RANGELINK PRODUCT FAMILY

RangeLINK remotely bridges Ethernet LANs in buildings separated by up to
three miles using frequency hopping spread spectrum RF technology, a
highly secure, interference-immune technology employed in Proxim's
award-winning RangeLAN2 product family. RangeLINK operates in the
unlicensed 2.4 GHz frequency band.

All RangeLINK models include everything needed for operation, including an
Ethernet interface, remote bridging software, appropriate antennae with
mounting hardware and cable lengths that can be chosen by the customer.
RangeLINK is pre-configured for quick installation, and no FCC license is
required to purchase or install a RangeLINK product.

PRICING AND AVAILABILITY

RangeLINK Series 1500 is available immediately in the United States, at a
starting list price of $6,000 for a complete two-site solution. Bridges
for additional sites have a list price as low as $3,100 each. For more
information, customers can call 800-229-1630.
