PLATINUM TECHNOLOGY'S PARADIGM PLUS DELIVERS TRUE ROUND-TRIP ENGINEERING
FOR FORTE; ANALYSIS AND DESIGN TOOL PRESERVES SOFTWARE INVESTMENT

OAKBROOK TERRACE, IL, MAY 7, 1996. . . At Object World East, PLATINUM
technology, inc. today announced that Paradigm Plus 3.0's integration with
Forte Software's Forte Release 2.0 brings the benefits of object-oriented
analysis and design to the Forte Application Environment. This
design/development integration fully supports round-trip engineering.
Utilizing Paradigm Plus's modeling capabilities, Forte developers can
quickly re-engineer existing applications to support business
requirements.

Paradigm Plus's robust merge capability, combined with its ability to
capture events and event handlers, ensures that at all times model and
code remain fully synchronized. This synchronization prevents the loss of
information which can occur when moving between an object-oriented
analysis and design environment and a 4GL environment.

"Forte Software fully endorses the use of modeling products for the design
of high-end applications. The quality of round-trip engineering between
Paradigm Plus and Forte means that developers can model and re-engineer
complex systems with confidence, knowing that model and source code
development iterations are fully synchronized," said Marty Sprinzen,
president and CEO of Forte Software. "This level of integration preserves
software investment, supports rapid business adaptation, and is
fundamental to successfully meeting the development demands of the
expanding enterprise."

"We look forward to a long-term partnership with Forte Software," said
Andrew Filipowski, CEO of PLATINUM technology, inc. "We are committed to
open, enterprise-wide IT solutions, and our complementary technologies
clearly support today's rapidly evolving, dynamic business environments."

PARADIGM PLUS

Paradigm Plus is a powerful object-oriented analysis and design tool that
supports Enterprise Component Modeling (ECM) and round-trip engineering.
With Paradigm Plus companies create "components" that divide information
systems into manageable sections. Components are stored in the Paradigm
Plus object repository where they are organized and synchronized with
source code and documentation. The tool's graphical environment fully
automates all leading object-oriented methods and notations, including
Unified, OMT, Booch, Fusion, Martin/Odell, Coad/Yourdon, Shlaer/Mellor,
and others extended to support Jacobson's Use Case modeling while also
allowing developers to customize methods based on business requirements.

Paradigm Plus generates code in C++, Ada, Smalltalk, PowerBuilder, Java,
PLATINUM ObjectPro, and Forte, as well as RDBMS and ODBMS schema
definitions. It also reverse engineers C++, Smalltalk, PowerBuilder,
ObjectPro and Forte code. The combined forward and reverse engineering
capabilities of Paradigm Plus, without any loss of data, provides
"round-trip" engineering which enables iterative development. Utilizing a
distributed object repository and open architecture, Paradigm Plus
optimizes reuse by allowing access to all stored objects and relationships
in a multi-user environment. Paradigm Plus components also can be
published to the Web as HTML documents where they can be viewed,
downloaded, and reused.

ENTERPRISE COMPONENT MODELING

Enterprise Component Modeling, or ECM, is an iterative model-driven
software development strategy which supports the delivery of multi-tiered
enterprise-scaleable applications. ECM enables users to:

* Manage Complexity of Mission-Critical Applications through the use of
object technology and component-based development techniques which enable
modeling, design, construction, and testing of robust, well-defined
components.

* Decrease Software Development and Maintenance Costs by delivering
components which can be shared and reused across multiple projects.

* Adapt to Changing Requirements by providing seamless traceability between
business process models and application software models, resulting in
quicker time to market.

* Maintain OO Method Notation Independence since any of the leading OO
notations can be used to construct the deliverable models.

PARADIGM PLUS PRICING AND AVAILABILITY

Paradigm Plus 3.01 is available now on Windows 3.1, Windows NT, Solaris.
Additional platforms, including SunOS, HP-UX, OS/2 Warp, Windows 95, and
IRIX will be available in the second quarter of 1996.

All copies of Paradigm Plus come with full code for the Forte code
generation script.
