NETSCAPE BROADENS DEVELOPMENT PARTNERS PROGRAM TO SUPPORT MARKET DELIVERY
OF DEVELOPERS' APPLICATIONS

NETSCAPE DEVEDGE OFFERS NEW FEATURES TO MORE THAN 12,000 NETSCAPE
DEVELOPERS BUILDING LIVE ONLINE APPLICATIONS FOR INTRANETS AND THE
INTERNET

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. (May 28, 1996) -- Netscape Communications Corporation
(NASDAQ: NSCP) today announced Netscape DevEdge, its next-generation
development partners program to support market delivery of Netscape
developers' applications. Netscape DevEdge is aimed at commercial and
enterprise developers, value added resellers and systems integrators, and
creative and design professionals using the Netscape software platform to
build Intranet and Internet applications. Netscape DevEdge is designed to
give Netscape developers the assistance they need to successfully create
and market their applications. The program includes co-marketing
opportunities and advanced support for the thousands of Internet
developers who - after rapid development - are now ready to bring their
new products to market.

More than 12,000 commercial, enterprise and content developers are building
live online applications based on Netscape's full line of clients,
servers, development tools and commercial applications. With Netscape
DevEdge, Netscape is offering developers tailored membership levels to
meet their unique needs at each phase of the new product development
cycle.

"The Internet - and corporate Intranets based on open Internet technologies
- are creating incredible new business opportunities for developers of
every size," said Donna Simonides, director of developer relations at
Netscape. "As a result, Netscape is seeing surging developer momentum for
Java, JavaScript and the Netscape open software platform. Netscape DevEdge
provides tailored membership levels to support Netscape developers as they
progress from concept development to market delivery."

Membership in the Netscape DevEdge program is initially available at two
levels: Community Member and Gold. Community Members are typically
developers in the early stages of product development whose needs center
around product and technical information. Gold Members are generally
companies with products built on the Netscape software platform who are
looking to build a closer alliance with Netscape as their products enter
the marketplace. Both levels include access to a ready-made market of the
millions of users running Netscape Navigator client software and Netscape
Navigator Gold premium client software.

DevEdge Community membership costs $95 and includes access to the following
developer resources from Netscape:

A library of Netscape software for development use

Regular updates from Netscape, including the ViewSource electronic
newsletter, electronic mail notices of product or program
announcements, and participation in Netscape's developer conferences

Online technical information about the Netscape software platform
including clients, servers, commercial applications, development
 tools and application programming interfaces

Online technical information about programming with the Java and
JavaScript development languages and the open standards of the
 Internet

Technical support via online discussion groups

Rights to use the Netscape Alliance logo for DevEdge members per
 Netscape's guidelines

Gold membership costs $495 and includes the benefits of Community
membership, plus enhanced co-marketing and technical support from Netscape
to increase business opportunities, including:

Designation of premier membership status in the Netscape developer
 catalog

Pointers to the developer showcase on the Netscape Internet site

Advanced technical support via discussion groups, telephone and
 email
