PRODUCTS

NEW BUSINESS MODEL MANDATES ENHANCED INTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS STRATEGY FOR
SALES AND DELIVERY

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. (May 9, 1996) -- Netscape Communications Corporation
(NASDAQ: NSCP) today announced that Cadence Design Systems, Inc., a
leading supplier of electronic design automation software and services,
will use Netscape server software to support its sales force and Netscape
Navigator as the standard client software for the company's Macintosh,
Windows, and UNIX-based systems.

In the past two years, Cadence has evolved its focus as a software product
vendor to provide complete business solutions to help customers best
leverage technology and processes for electronic product development.
"Access to information and knowledge from throughout our company is
critical to the success of our new approach to solving customer problems,"
said Corey Leibow, vice president of worldwide sales operations at
Cadence. "We are using Netscape software and a corporate 'intranet' to
educate our sales force about new sales strategies and processes, and
allow them to learn from best practices utilized successfully with other
Cadence customers.

"We chose Netscape as the foundation for our sales communication system
because of its commitment to open standards, flexibility, extensibility,
ease of use and maintenance," said Barry Demak, Manager of Worldwide Sales
Automation Projects.

Netscape Navigator, Netscape server software and the Web are providing a
foundation for a flexible on-line sales communication system, called
OnTrack, designed and implemented for Cadence by Sage Solutions, a San
Francisco-based consulting firm specializing in intranet applications.
These components which comprise the foundation of the system were
implemented to help educate Cadence's global sales force about the
company's new strategy and to enable them to access real-time product and
competitive information.

Netscape Navigator is open, cross-platform Internet client software that
provides end-user access to major Internet resources, such as the World
Wide Web or "HTTP," electronic mail, threaded discussion groups, FTP and
Gopher, through a single, easy-to-learn graphical user interface. This
interface allows a user to find, retrieve, and interact with information
and conduct electronic commerce easily, by simply pointing and clicking on
hypertext links. Netscape high- performance server software enables
organizations to publish rich, hypermedia information on IP-based
networks. It allows publishers to reach new audiences online, corporations
to conduct cost-effective online marketing and customer support programs,
and organizations to facilitate internal communication and collaboration
among employees and workgroups.

Netscape Communications Corporation is a premier provider of open software
for linking people and information over enterprise networks and the
Internet. The company offers a full line of Netscape Navigator clients,
Netscape servers, development tools, and commercial applications to create
